Mornin' All!

I'm having coffee with a friend at 10:00, otherwise, not much on the agenda today. I may do some baking and cleaning - and maybe some reading. I also started a pot of skyr this morning - although that's very hands-off. Otherwise...???

QOTD: graduate school is definitely not chill. The two times I've been through it were some of the busiest years of my life. It's not just the classes - it's the papers and reading and research projects - plus trying to fit "life" in. I remember times when I wasn't able to read a Sunday paper for months on end. UGH. Anyway, to answer your question, I was a full-time student for my first master's program. I graduated from that in 1984 - so it's been 38 years since I was last a full-time student. I finished my second master's in 1997. I was working full-time at the time, and taking 1-2 classes a semester. It was deadly. Pretty much 4-5 years without much of a life. I'm glad to be just an auditor now - I never want to write another research paper or take another exam for the rest of my life!

B: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with strawberry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: I'll probably get an iced latte at the coffee shop - with SF syrup

L: half pita stuffed with chicken shawarma (left over from yesterday's lunch out)

AS: protein muffin?

D: back to the routine salad again (which I keep posting on here but haven't had for a few days - power greens topped with chicken breast, diced peach, and light dressing)

oh - (was it Lana who mentioned this?) - I did buy a bottle of Newman's own Sesame Ginger dressing last night. The calories were right, and I know you love it. I usually get Kraft's Asian Sesame dressing (the light version, not the regular), and I like that, too - but I'm curious about the Newman one!

this is me at the farm animal sanctuary we visited last Saturday. They let us into the pig and donkey pastures (unfortunately, not the goat pasture - but I'm sure there was a reason. At least we had ample time to watch them, since I love goats!!)

We have this huge beautiful tomato plant, but we have only got two tomatoes out of it because the squirrels and/or chipmunks keep eating the fruit.

QOTD- 1976 in High School. I always worked full time when I went to college. It took me longer but I got there.

Friday is finally here! I'm also looking forward to Football. The Ducks are 17 point underdogs against Georgia but football is finally here!

I ordered a freestanding bathroom cabinet that I'm going to put in the hallway for all of the things I can't fit in my tiny bathroom. I also ordered a jewelry organizer, all of my stuff is jumbled up and in tin boxes which just doesn't work for me. The largest expense I will have is in extending the duct work into the upstairs of this house, I also need to replace the furnace and add A/C. With the change in weather it keeps getting hotter and the summers longer here. Most of last month it was above 90 every day, which is not normal for here. Now it's air quality alerts due to high temps and wildfire smoke. I never thought I would say I'm ready for fall, but I am.

Lots of unpacking to do, and cleaning up is what I see in my future.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, everybody!

We lost our power two times last night and the computer had to reboot this morning. I typed out the first line, looked at my screen and saw only "G." But still better than phone typing.

We used to have this woman, from Chicagoland also, who posted every day until her boss told her she couldn't post on her work computer. Faced with a lifetime of phone posting, she just said "bye" to us.

Marilyn seems to be in a nesting/cleaning phase as we adopt to the house without kids. Yesterday she cleaned out all of the bookshelves and she has been talking about re-organizing the unfinished basement.

Our schedule for this fall is bonkers. But this weekend is somewhat quiet. Marilyn has a wine tasting tonight, so I am on my own. Most likely I will either Zoom one of my friends who is also on his own this weekend or go out to dinner. Tomorrow morning, is Crossfit. I would like to watch the Connie Taylor tribute concert since we have Paramount+ from our Seal Team watching.

Tomorrow afternoon we have a pool party. But open on Sunday and Monday at this point.

QOTD: I graduated undergrad in 1988. I went to graduate school at night while working.

Photo is Debbie of course

Breakfast: Protein Bar

Lunch: Roast Beef

Dinner: TBD

Have a great weekend, all!

77. I think everyone that we grew up listening to is ten years older than we think because it used to take so long paying dues to get noticed and played on the radio.
