Thank you! Isn't that fun? I have things in the corners of closets that might be along those lines. Hopefully enough to get through the next few months.

Good mornin everyone, it's so great to see you getting us started JB! I missed posting yesterday.

Not sure what the plan for today is. Yesterday and the day before was rough physically and mentally. The pain clinic basically washed their hands of me. I don't go back for three months. If I do have surgery in Lubbock they'll do the post op meds. They did change the muscle relaxer to hopefully help with the leg cramps. It didn't help last night...lol. I had a huge BIG ugly cry yesterday. Hoping today'll be better.

QOTD: it really depends on the task. If it's something I like to do I'm laser focused. If it's something I don't care to do it is like a dog seeing a squirrel!

B: JUST egg bowl + coffee

L: smoked sausage with fennel and onion

D: stuffed bell peppers I think

S: Jerky, cheese and maybe some pistachios

Definitely hoping your today is better. Seems wrong that doctors of any specialty can just write you off without helping to provide a path forward. Three months is a long time when you're hurting.

Mornin' Everyone!

The only thing I have today is a case meeting at the nursing home where my ward lives (I'm her legal guardian) - but I have some prep work to do before the meeting. Admittedly my heart hasn't really been in this particular assignment, although I do respond when I need to make decisions for her or when the staff calls me about something. She's not much older than me (68, I believe) and is in terrible health and has dementia and a brain injury. She's mostly non-communicative and, on the days when she IS communicative, it's often (well, mostly) yelling. I'm supposed to go out to visit her at least once a month, but it's a struggle and I dread it. I don't think she'll be at this case meeting, though. Other than that, I have things I need to do for two committees I'm on as they're both gearing up for "the season" - but I may hold off until tomorrow to get going on this.

QOTD: depends on what it is. If I'm mentally into it, it's hard to drag me away. Sometimes I'm up until the wee hours of the morning working on something that's piqued my interest. But on other things - like some of the committee work I have to do - I'm very easily distracted.

B: plain skyr with fruit and a couple tablespoons of muesli. Coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie (??)

AS: protein muffin

D: probably another one of those salads with the power greens, diced peaches, chicken breast, and light dressing - although I feel like I should eat something else for a change (although chicken and peaches do go bad, so I need to eat those pretty soon...plus, I love the salad...)

have a great day, all!

I did not realize you've been going to see her every month! That's dedication! Can you ask for another client? You've mentioned a few times that you're not loving this engagement.

I could - and I've thought about it - but then I feel guilty as this woman really does need someone to make decisions for her. I was told when she was first assigned to me that she had no family, but I found out through some research that she actually does - two siblings. She had a third sibling who died of cancer a few years ago, but my client wasn't even mentioned in the sister's obit (she was mentioned in the parents' obits, though - thus I know it was the same family - all the names and places lived were the same). So sad - it's like the sibs don't want anything to do with her. But maybe this isn't unusual with mental illness - I'm not sure.

I had another client before I was assigned the current one (the former client passed away a couple of years ago). It was much easier to visit her. She was deaf and also had some dementia, but she always seemed happy to see me. This current one is tough, though. I need to give this more thought. There are other people out there who need legal guardians, and the agency will probably be able to find someone else to step in for this particular client, so....???

I find myself eating the same thing everyday because I enjoy the foods.

I am impressed with your being a legal guardian for someone who you really didnt know. I am sorry she makes it uncomfortable for you to visit due to her disabilities but you are doing a awesome thing for her.
