Monday, we meet again! What's your plan for the day?

You've got this, Mike!!

QOTD: Oh yes many skills. I can hunt and process what ever I caught. Grow a garden, make butter and cheese, plus other things. My family laughs at me, but they all know if the apocalypse hit they would be at my house or face extinction.
B: Over easy egg with homemade Scrapple
L: Two pickled eggs
D: Tomahawk Pork Chops. We didn't cut the ribs off of the last pig we processed so we have huge pork chops with a long meaty rib bone.
So I am dealing with low ferritin again after 3 years of good numbers. It is 8.1 and both my doctor and myself believe it is due to abnormal menstrual cycles I have been having since January of this year. I was hoping to get a hysterectomy, but I will have to get iron infusions again before I can move forward with that.
Mornin' All!
I've been feeling very anxious all morning - not the norm for me. During the few times I'm feeling this way, I usually get out on my bike and ride a good 15-20 miles, but it looks crappy out and it's supposed to rain off and on all day, so biking is out. Maybe I'll head to the gym instead. I'm also waiting on a call from the vet clinic. The radiologist *****viewed one of my cat's ultrasounds thinks there might be a mass in his intestines. I am totally freaked by that. We have exploratory surgery scheduled for Sept 6, but I'm hoping we can do something to get that moved up so I'm not jumping out of my skin for the next month. I'd left them messages about possibly having it done by a specialist or the vet school instead, if they can get him in within the next week or two. The other option (besides surgery) they gave me when the vet called on Friday with the bad news is having a specialist do another ultrasound, this time getting needle aspirations from various parts of his G/I tract. Although not as definitive as exploratory surgery, it'd give them a fair amount of information. I dismissed this at first, until I heard they couldn't get him in for surgery for a freaking month. But now I'm reconsidering it. I'm also stressed because my mother is really wanting me to take her to the shoe store today to return the shoes she bought a week or two ago, and to another shoe store to find another pair (she no longer drives). This is annoying regardless of the timing, because she's one of those people who's always buying things only to return them, but right now with this cat thing going on, this is stressing me out. I hope I can get her to hold off until later in the week.
QOTD: I'm a decent cook, although when I was in Africa 20 years ago doing volunteer work, my host family really wanted me to cook things for them, but with the lack of equipment we have here in the US, having to cook some things over a fire pit in the backyard, and this crazy oven (and they were one of the few families in the village that had an indoor kitchen with a fridge and stove) that I couldn't quite figure out - the temp didn't seem to be regulated and my host "mother" always left the oven door open when she made anything in there, I was sort of flummoxed, so I'm sure she thought I was an idiot. I'm sure I'd have the same issue in the Middle Ages!
B: coffee with half & half (I'm trying to hold off on eating until AT LEAST 10:00 am for awhile, to see if modified IF works for me (modified in that I'm not sure I can give up the half & half in my coffee. But I'm in it for the overall reduced calorie intake for the day - not for lowering blood sugar, etc - so it might be OK. We'll see....)
MS: protein shake and (maybe) a couple of Wasa bread crackers
L: salad made of mixed green, 2 oz of rotisserie chicken, a diced peach, and light dressing
AS: ??
D: 1/2 a pack of Loma Linda Southwest bowl (made of beans and fake meat - as well as veggies and spices). Might have a small piece of birthday cake - I can fit it in as long as I stick to the plan the rest of the day)
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning! Blech, it's still hot and for us, humid. Had a very nice time bayside last night at the retirement party, but the humidity was pretty oppressive and we sat around in our tiki themed summer dresses sweating. Food choices were pretty terrible. Two fresh salads which I tried and didn't like. Not usual for me. Sweet and sour chicken, walnut shrimp in a pretty good sauce, noodles and rice. I picked out some chicken and had the shrimp and a bite or two of noodles. They were dense and sodium filled and sugar and cream packed. I ate it anyway. Of course. Thank goodness I had chosen to be extra good all day yesterday. And then last night, for some dumb reason, I decided I needed to open the single serve size bag of chocolate drizzled caramel corn someone had given me (that someone obviously must be foe, not friend!) But at least I stopped at half the bag. 130 useless calories. Dammit.
Today is Monday and that means I've got nothing. All day. I've made Monday's my day while Roger is out golfing. I might pop over to the store. Looking for some new tops. Might not. I've binged watched all of Neil Patrick Harris' UnCoupled. I loved it, but if you are a modest person, it may shock you. I sure as hell would no****ch it with my adult kids. Lots of sex. I started on Under the Banner of Heaven last night. Roger didn't like it, but I did, so I will add it to my Monday watch list along side Becoming Elizabeth. Other than that, I just need to help out the brown dog. 5 more days before the stitches come out and the cone can come off and we are cannot wait. Getting jabbed in the legs 10 or 20 times a day by the rigid cone sucks for us and we can't even imagine what he's thinking.
QoTD: King's taster? That's if I'm not up in the tower waiting for Jim.
menu:
B: cottage cheese and 3 oz smoked brisket
L: TJ's fresh chicken meatballs and fresh corn from the cob. Maybe a few tomatoes and red onion mixed with the corn
D: stuffed bell peppers and salad

Out of curiosity what did it cost to have your dog's ACL surgery? My Rottie is really limping on her leg (also ACL issue).
