I guess you can layover in Iceland for no additional charge if you fly Icelandair. There was a woman in the airport with us who had done a 6 day woman's hike across South Iceland. She was raving about it. You backpack, but a truck brings all of the luggage from stop to stop.

I am assigned all people who gave non-commital answers to the Faroe Islands.

I would love to go to the Faroes, lol. I think you can stay up to 8 days in Iceland on that layover plan, I looked at it once but not recently.
