Good morning, everybody!

My hands are shaky on the levers of power, but I have to be in work early, so I will lead off.

Saturday morning came fast and finally I dragged myself out of bed at 10:10. Off to 11:00 Crossfit in a driving rain. The rain had two effects: (1) people cancelled their plans and came to the gym, and (2) the outside running had to be done inside. So the 11:00 basically looked like a Richard Scary illustration with people, barbells, etc. all over the place.

Made it home and lay on the couch for a few hours before I packed. Of course there was traffic going into Chicago at 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon in July. We checked into the Fairmont. Fortunately we had selected the lounge level because that was all we had time for dinner-wise. The lounge had an honor system bar and a selection of canapés.

Marilyn came back from the bar holding a glass of wine about 1 1/2 inches from the top. I said "that's a generous pour, honey" and Marilyn said that "she thought she was being reasonable because the guy with the white poured himself to overflowing." I'm sure that the prices reflected the expected self serve quantity.

After a snack and 2 1/2 glasses of wine we were into a cab for night two. All in all, it was muggy and about as "play the hits"as you are going to get for a Dead concert.

At about 6:40, things kicked off with Scarlett Begonias. Julia will tell you that Jimmy Buffet covers this well and she's right (Uncle John's Band not so much). Next came a long version of The Wheel - you could tell that the crowd was still warming up. New Speedway Boogie, Robert Hunter's song about the Altamont stabbings in 1969 (shown in the movie Gimme Shelter) followed. Then the band went way back and covered Gus Cannon's Big Railroad Blues.

I have wondered why Trish's class started in 1940 instead of 1920 because it cuts off so much of the Jug Bands and Blues Gospel that inspired 1960's Rock and Roll. I am sure that the answer is that I am an accountant and not a humanities professor and should stay in my lane. Next up was a cover of Martha and the Vandellas Dancing in the Street. Donne Jean gets a lot of hate, from some people, but I think this song is much better with a female vocal. The first set ended with Tennessee Jed and an always favorite Sugaree.

By the intermission, the rain had stopped, but instead of a nice breeze it started to get muggy and the air was still. Unfortunately, still air means that all of the smoke from the cigarettes, vaping and whatnot just kind of lingered. Not my favorite smell.

After a longish break (and a soft pretzel for me), the second set kicked off with Casey Jones. Despite incessant radio airplay, they usually don't play that one live. Then came Ramble on Rose, which we saw in Denver last fall. If you don't get up and dance during Franklin's Tower, you might have a stick lodged inside of you, and sure enough Help Is on the Way/Slipknot/Franklin's had everybody up in the aisles moving.

Drums and Space is my time to pee. They came out of Space with Days Between, one of the last songs Jerry Garcia wrote (first performed in 1993). If anybody did not expel their stick during Franklin's Tower, then Fire on The Mountain into One More Saturday Night sure did it. We have some video of the Wrigley Field crowd dancing. People say that Fire on The Mountain has a reggae beat. I hear it a little, but just a bit. I'm interested to see what Shauna thinks?

The encores were Brokedown Palace and Touch of Grey, and all of a sudden it was 10:50. Robert Hunter wrote Ripple, Brokedown Palace and To Lay Me Down in one afternoon while drinking a bottle of Retsina. Not a bad days work. Touch of Grey led to the inevitable grousing from the inevitable people. I think its a likable pop song. So there.

We had Sunday brunch in the same lounge and made it home by 11:00 on Sunday. Not sure if the boys were aware we ever left.

Tonight is our rescheduled Open the 1992 Night after last week's cancellation. Unfortunately I have an 8:00 conference call. So the plan is: food, company and one glass at 6:30, conference call from 8:00 to 8:30, and then back to the 1992. Cheers!

QOTD: Are you planning to attend the OH convention? I am and Marilyn may accompany

Breakfast: Avocado Toast

Good morning! Happy Wednesday! It seems unfair that you have both a day in the office and an evening conference call. Have to say, I do like Marilyn's reasoning on the wine.

QOTD - no, I won't be attending the conference but I'm looking forward to living vicariously through all of you that go.

Work is annoying me this week, I'm pretty much re arranging my schedule to make sure I can get to the end of the week without telling anyone off. I have confidence I can do it! Today I have a nice mid day break, my massage yesterday had to be moved due to something coming up with my therapist so I rescheduled it over a long lunch so I have that to look forward to.

Menu today

coffee plus half and half X 2

enchilada fillings and cheese X 2

I didn't open the limoncello gouda yesterday so will have that and some salami today

light and fit yogurt

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

Good mornin Jim and everyone!

Yesterday was a not so great day. My appointment at the pain clinic was LLLLOOOOOOOOOOONG. Waited over an hour after my appointment time just until I was called back then waited 20 or so minutes for the NP. I was hurting so bad from having to sit. By the time I was seen it was to late to have my pain med refilled. Mind you I had to cut some in half to stretch it until yesterday. I was livid. I nearly bawled. I'm a crier when I get pissed and with the pain...well tears flowed, thankfully not an ugly cry...just tears. I was NOT happy. I made a small stink and I kept my temper at a decent level...for them. Of all the places to aim for less wait time you'd think it'd be a pain treatment facility...

I had one pill I managed to save that I just took At midnight. It's ridiculous how these pain management things goes. Hopefully they'll have the pills at the pharmacy today. They may of had to order them again so it may be until tomorrow. My appointment was at 3:20, they said to be there 20 minutes early. Didn't get out of there until 5.

I'm hoping today'll be decent. I got 3 hours of sleep so I'm hoping for a nap. I have an appointment with my psychologist at 9:45.

QOTD: sadly no.

B: JUST egg cup, cheese and a half cup of cold brew coffee

L: ???

D: no clue either

Good morning ~ Unfortunately, I never caught on to the Grateful Dead so the only songs I recognized were Casey Jones and Touch of Grey. I was looking forward to more about the new motif at the hotel, the buoys had me on the edge of my seat. I did however have a vivid picture of the Richard Scary gym scene. I hope your 1992 night is a success!

Today is another no real calendar day. Still lots to do so I will plug away. Last night we had quesadillas instead of tacos. Not the same per Rob so he requested a taco Tuesday do-over tonight -so that is happening.

QOTD - YES! Ticket purchased and hotel is booked. Looking forward to going and seeing everyone

Accountability - added a SF jello with whipped cream, hardly anything to worry about

b- coffee, one egg bite, one HB egg

l- spicy chicken sandwich salad

d- tacos

s- red pepper, carrots, celery, ranch - probably SF jello with whip again or a SF popsicle

e - Part 3 of the Alps hike - DONE. It'll be cool enough this evening to get in a dog walk after dinner also.

Have a great day!!!

I love the sf jellos. They are a staple in my fridge, DH is of the opinion I'm obsessed with them. I don't put whipped cream on them though, because I know I can exaggerate with the whipped cream.

I hear that! I used to pour the little jello into a big cup and fill it up with whip! Now - I just peel back the lid and do a little whip circle around the top.
