Mornin' All!

it's super nice out this morning, so I may get out on my bike before I have to pick my mom up to take her to a doctor's appt. I scheduled to have my annual labs done at the same time in the same building since it made total sense - I'll be there waiting around anyway, so why not? I normally wouldn't have them done until a week or two before my annual appt (which is the third week in July this year), but that would mean getting them right after I return from Scotland. I wasn't sure how possibly (probably??) eating differently than usual would affect my levels. Vitamin levels - no. But possibly lipid levels - and whatever other metabolic things they test for (like glucose, maybe). Figured it was better to go ahead and have them done before I leave.

QOTD: this is a tough one since a lot of things have changed in my lifetime. Diet advice immediately comes to mind, though, since that's always on the forefront of my brain (although it's probably not as earth-shattering as some other new knowledge - and not always widely-known. My mother-in-law still eats margarine, for example - I guess she hasn't gotten the memo yet that you're better off eating real butter. We've known that now for years...)

B: protein shake, coffee with half & half

MS: plain skyr with fruit compote

L: protein muffin

AS: L&F yogurt, skinny bagel with light cream cheese

D: probably pulled pork with some kind of vegetable

have a great day, everyone!

Maybe she likes the taste of margarine more? If it's what she got used to back in the day.

Good morning all and Happy Monday,

Great meme. I saw an alarm clock that cooks bacon when you wake up so you awake to the smell of bacon. Life goals.

Weekend was good. My father is back in rehab so saw him over the weekend. Also went and spent time with my mom and sister. I went out to lunch with a friend yesterday and caught everyone leaving the Pride parade so that was fun.

My eating has been full of poor choices. I bought two bags of my nemesis M&Ms and finished them in two days. I'm hoping to right the ship before it gets further out of control.

QOTD - I find out fascinating how medical knowledge evolves. The idea that it was acceptable everyone used to drink while pregnant, smoke on planes, etc amazes me.

B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut Yogurt, Tangerine.

L: Leftover chicken crispers and mashed potatoes.

D: Cilantro Lime Shrimp.

HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 215. 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

The smoking sections...with no barriers othe than we called these 10 seats smoking and these 10 seats non smoking. I think there are still restaurants that do that, none here though.

That reminds me of an episode of the Office where Michael Scott burns his foot on his George Foreman cooking bacon - great episode!

G'morning all!

Yesterday was get out of jail day for us. We had a great time SUPing and going for a late lunch at an outside restaurant.

Yesterday was also my 5th surgiversary. I remember when I joined OH a couple of months after surgery, reading all the posts and hoping that I wouldn't fail at this too. I had tried so many diets and I was so scared that even the RNY would fail. I am still fighting but it's for a 5 lb range and no longer a 110-120 lb range. When I finally reached goal after two years I came up with my 10 commandments to maintain. I went through my things and found them. Happy to say I am still doing most of them.

My 10 maintenance commandments

  1. Thou shalt have liquids (water, coffee, tea) throughout the day, aiming for at least 80 oz. - check
  2. Thou shalt feed thyself with dense protein first. - check
  3. Protein bars shalt be considered equal to candy bars. Thou shalt use them only in extreme emergency when no other protein is found. Hence, thou shalt not buy boxes and boxes of protein bars, but one or two single ones for dire emergencies. - check, I limit bars to weekends
  4. Icecream (the high protein low sugar version) shalt not be consumed on a daily basis. The treat shalt be consumed bi-weekly, preferably monthly. - check, don't even eat the halo icecreams any more, but asa treat I get the mini cones from TJ, once in a while.
  5. Thou shalt not eat nuts as a source of protein due to lack of willpower in front of said nuts. Nuts shalt be a no-no in thy diet. - meh, still working on this
  6. Fruits like berries (during summer season) shalt be consumed with moderation. A tub of blueberries from Costco shalt not be considered moderation. - check
  7. Chocolate chips and sugar free candies are thy downfall. Stayeth hence from them. - check, most of the time
  8. Thou shalt workout 5-6 times a week (one hr each session), come water, flood or other weather calamities. - check
  9. Thou shalt weigh thyself on a weekly basis, and plan accordingly if an increase is observed. - check
  10. Thou shalt go to monthly support meetings even if considered boring and redundant. Meetings got cancelled during Covid and never resumed.

Here is my yearly comparison pic.

QOTD: speaking of all the diets I did and failed, one was the lemon juice cayenne pepper diet...for fifteen days, that's all I drank. I think I lost something like 5 lbs. The stuff I did and now looking back I was so gullible and hopeful every time with a new diet.

My meals yesterday :

  • Coffee & barebells bar
  • Cuban sandwich (skipped the bun) & sweet potato fries
  • Cheese and strawberry jalapeño crisps
  • E: SUP for about 2.5 hours.

Happy start of the week!
