Mornin' All!

well I got into my African American Music & Culture class (or whatever the title is - can't remember) and I love it! It covers music & history (and how the two intertwine) from 1940 up to the present. The thing is, I'm already a week behind, and there's a 75-minute lecture every day - plus I have my two film groups and my book discussion group (which involve films to watch and books to read), I still have a lot more reading to do for my upcoming trip to Scotland, AND...the syllabus for my crime film class (starts June 20th) was just uploaded last night, and since I'll be in Scotland for half the time this class "meets" (it's online - but lectures are recorded - and then there's a whole slew of films to watch), I want to get a good head start on at leas****ching the films, since I don't know how much time I'll have to do it while in Scotland (some for sure - but probably only an hour or two at a time, and not every night - some evenings we may have things going on that I'll want to participate in). So - busy June, basically.

I took another long bike ride yesterday, but not today - it's raining and this is supposed to keep up all day. So maybe I'll do a youtube video or go to a Zumba class tonight. Meeting a friend for lunch at a Mexican place. Plus...?? Read and watch movies, I guess!

B: either cottage cheese or plain skyr with fruit. Coffee with half & half

L: either two street tacos or two cheese quesadillas (both off the "a la carte" menu at the restaurant)

AS: L&F yogurt?

D: pulled chicken with BBQ sauce

have a great day, everyone!

DS took a History of Rock and Roll course in high school that he really enjoyed. It also went way back to jazz influences. I am interested in the crime film class. Is this fiction or nonfiction crime. It sounds like a fun and interesting class. Which college (I assume community college) do you take the classes. I have looked here locally and dont see fun classes like those you mention.

the crime film class is fictional crime...

this is the University of Wisconsin. It seems like the Communication Arts dept does some off-beat courses in the summer, taught by PhD students. The ones taught during the regular academic year are pretty standard (Intro to Film, Film History, French Film, Film Theory, etc). Maybe they're trying to see how the off-beat ones go (and if they're really successful, maybe add them to the regular curriculum? Not sure). Or maybe it's just a chance for the PhD students to get some teaching practice. At any rate, I'm glad they do it - esp since I've already taken most of the standard film classes they offer during the regular year (last summer I took a course on documentary film, also taught by a PhD student)

I might take a look at the curriculum. I am curious to what they charge to audit a course?

if you're over 60 and have been a Wisconsin resident for at least a year, it's free! Not sure how much it costs otherwise. I'm sure it's much cheaper than taking it for credit, though. I'll check...

yikes - a lot more than I thought (although about a third of what you'd pay if you were taking it for credit). For non-WI resident auditors, it's $702 a credit ($103 a credit for WI resident auditors)

I downloaded the new Nora Roberts for my flight, when I say I"m going for relaxing, I'm going for relaxing. Have you read Uprooted by Naomi Novik? It's one of my all time favorite recommendations.

Nora Roberts was a favorite of mine for many years but I have gotten away from romance type books. She is a great author though. She also does crime fiction under JD Robb. I am going to look into Uprooted. I have gotten some great recommendations from this group.
