I would have laughed at that joke! I do find that people who don't/haven't traveled internationally get very stuck on the exceptional events Vs the overall safety. My step mother is currently melting down because my step sister and her SO are going with another couple to Belize and "it's so dangerous there". On the other hand, I do think that before you can criticize another country's safety you should be able to find it on a map.

true - and they don't even think of the US. The gun violence here has a lot of people in OTHER countries thinking twice about coming here since they think it's unsafe..

DH and my kids are skeptical about vacationing in Mexico because of the statistics: more Americans die there then any other vacation spot (could be a higher percentage of people travel there due to proximity), drug cartels, unethical police force, etc. I however want to go on vacation there for some beach and relaxation. My sister is planning a trip for October and I (and family) have been invited. I told them I am going with or without them. I would also go to Belize.

I think it depends a lot on where you are. A lot of the border towns & cities can be pretty sketchy, but I've heard Mexico City is great - and I have a friend who often goes to Oaxaca and said he's always felt very safe there.

Mexico City is amazing, archeological sites right next to new business sites, it's so dynamic and vibrant. I spent a lot of time there (and Guadalajara and Monterey) for work and they are all interesting cities; Guad in the spring was so flowery and colorful.

I love your worried wives' story. I actually just heard that Nicaragua was a great place to visit especially because the dollar is very strong. I hope they have great waves.

Happy Thursday,

Not much to report. I have work today, then a hair appointment right after work. I have brought my walking shoes so that I can take a long walk at lunch so that I get my exercise in.

QOTD: I really like the child's pose at yoga. It gives me a great low back and hip stretch depending on how you put your legs. I agree that the plank makes you feel strong. I am proud of how much stronger I am holding the plank. I can even do shoulder taps. Has anyone ever done the dancing crab? That I can not coordinate very well...

B: triple zero greek yogurt with collagen, cold brew with half n half

L: lettuce salad with grilled chicken, ff french dressing

S: Strawberry protein "frosty"

D: Chicken with Tikka Masala sauce, cauliflower rice

S: 100 cal bag popcorn, 4 squares sf chocolate

E: 60 minute walking (looking for hills-plenty around the hospital)

Have a great pre-Friday!
