You had that great yoga trip a few years ago...did it turn into yoga overkill? I do yoga occasionally but I am trying to do a lot more general stretching; the program with my gloves/medicine ball really pushes 10-15 minutes of stretching at least a couple times a week (although they say if you can do it daily, then do it daily).

you're right - I think I got kind of burnt out on yoga after that trip. I need to do SOMETHING for stretching and flexibility, though, since that's just as important as strength training and cardio. Gloves/medicine ball is a good idea...

G'morning all!

Oh that meme speaks to me directly. I'm always happy, but ask my kids if anybody did them wrong while they were in school. Hell hath no fury like an Italian mom whose kids feelings got hurt. I believe in karma but I always told my kids it's the Italian malocchio that got whoever hurt their feelings.

DD has been keeping us up to date with her Covid progression. Today she has fever, cough, and according to her "tiny bit belaboring breathing"! It's freaking me out not being there; I sent her a couple of articles about oral medication for Covid you can now take. I just hope this doesn't get worse.

QOTD: I'm not sure if I am more or less flexible than other people. I can't do anything extraordinary, like licking my elbow, but I think I can do everyday exercises required by my trainer.

My meals yesterday :

  • Coffee
  • Costco egg bites
  • Jello, hot cocoa
  • Carnitas burrito, I ate the meat inside with beans and salsa
  • E: cardio + weight

Happy hump day!

Oh no, not good that DD is not moving in the right direction and I"m sure it's stressful to be so far away. Does she have one of those pulse oxygen things? It's a good data point to have if she has one.

Good morning, everybody!

Does anybody know when Lisa gets back?

I tracked my intake on MFP for the first time in about 6 months yesterday. I felt like it helped with not grazing as much, so I am going to try and get back into the habit.

Marilyn's parents went home at about 10:30 yesterday morning and DD went home at about 5:30 last night, plus my older son is away for a few days at a gaming convention. So the house is quiet after last week's busyness.

QOTD: I have worked on this, for three years just to be mediocre. I can do an overhead squat with up to about half of my body weight and can do a full squat snatch, both movements that some people struggle with. I can touch my toes with straight legs, but barely. My squat is getting deeper (definitely below parallel) but not ass to floor by any means. My front rack position is poor but improving and at least I am holding the bar wider. I still can't get into a handstand against a wall facing away from the wall.

As a general rule, my hip mobility is good, ankles and hamstrings are OK, upper back is poor. My shoulders are really tight. Its partly computer and partly a previous bout of frozen shoulder, but I do a number of stretches to try and loosen them but the going is slow.

I read somewhere that mobility is earned, no different than strength. I think that is true, at least to some extent.

Breakfast: Egg sandwich

Lunch: Roast beef

Dinner: Hello Fresh

Have a great day, all!

I agree that mobility is earned. When people become idle they loose mobility, flexibility and strength.
