I'm county government and I thought we were pretty strict - tons of rules and hoops but nothing like Kean anymore.

Their rules don't make much sense, to be honest. They get into conf room but no more than 4 people, and plexiglass in front of everybody. Just let them zoom, for crying out loud. At first, about 6-9 months ago, they had to go in but zoom for mtgs; that didn't make sense at all, so why go in?

We have no way to monitor productivity from home unfortunately. Honestly, it's much easier to manage my staff when all are here. Managing from home was like herding kittens sometimes - communication was tough.

That's very mixed messaging for sure. I mean, I'm about to fly to the east coast with 100 or so colleagues so we can all sit in a giant conference room and zoom into a smaller conference room so I know the stupidity that is possible, lol

It would have been more impressive to let these engineers work from home, much more productive.

Instead they were the first company in Silicon Valley to request all employees to be back on site, but also go through the expense of testing them twice a week.

I'm glad your company is taking the outbreak seriously. So many seem to just be taking no action/no concern at all. It's ridiculous. Even if people want to pretend "it's just like the flu", we (my company) had remote/shut down requirements in the past when there was a heavy flu outbreak!

Right? So happy about that also. All my staff are negative this morning thankfully, but 3 chose to stay home. They have elderly parents, grandbabies or health issues - they don't need this. This particular situation could have been avoided if sick people would just fricking stay home. Even if you don't think it's covid - come on - It's more than just you that it's effecting - it's entire families too.
