It's the first Monday in MAY, what's on your menu?
G'morning all!
We are alive, sore and battered but alive. The hike on Mt Diablo was one of the toughest hikes I have been on. We made the mistake of not taking the normal route all the hikers take because we were duped to believe we are "fit" by the ranger at the bottom. He suggested alternate scenic routes and we got sucked in by his nice compliment. Never ever again will I believe a ranger. I will do my homework and research, read the reviews online and take appropriate routes at my level of hiking pleasure. The trails we were on were like straight up stair climber machines at the gym with no end. The pictures below are when I was not in a bad mood and cussing the ranger, or downhill in the way back. Don't get me wrong, scenery was gorgeous, but the effort we put in to get to the summit was not fun, and it took us 5 hours just to get to the summit. On the way back home in the car DH said "look hon, that's Mt Diablo, aren't you proud you made it?" To which I said "I'm happy I did it, but I never ever wanna see that mountain again, for me it can crumble to the ground!"
QOTD: personality wise I'm sunrise, because every day is a new day for me to change things, do things, the possibilities are endless at the beginning of the day. But if you ask me if I like to watch sunrise or sunset I opt for sunset because I'm not an early riser.
My meals yesterday :
- Coffee & barebells bar
- Cauliflower rice & chicken bites
- TJ mini icecream cone
- Grilled salmon + asparagus
- E: sore to the bone
Happy start of the week!

I love hiking and I'd have been cussing too!! Congrats on the climb - that is such an accomplishment! And you looked SO fabulous!!! I would have been a miserable, ugly, beet red and sweaty mess!

Oh Amy, believe you me, there were some points I was in tears. I would hope for a little bit of flat at the next curve and I would see another straight up wall to climb. I was walking around like a drunk person, couldn't put one foot in front of the other from exhaustion, and we weren't even half way. Thank goodness for the protein bars I had brought with me. At one point I sat in the middle of the trail (very narrow, barely wide enough for one person) and told DH I dream of getting a sprain so that you have to go get me a stretcher or a helicopter, this way I'm off the hook. He was a saint during the whole thing and kept encouraging me to get going. If the roles had reversed and he was as insufferable as I was I would have slapped him silly or left him behind. I know, I'm mean.

Hello, this is my first time posting in a long time and I have the regain to prove it sadly. About 60 lbs and counting. This morning I gave myself a stern talking to- I didn't have this surgery to be obese.
QOTD- I love sunrise and sunset... especially if I'm near the ocean. I just spent a week in Florida at a condo on Ormond Beach with a bunch of my girlfriends. We had an amazing time. I so enjoyed it and missing the warmer temps now that I'm back home.
here was my menu for the day. It's not perfect but the first step.
Breakfast- coffee with cream, vanilla protein shake made with whole milk
Lunch Greek yogurt with walnuts and strawberries and a vanilla protein shake made with oat milk
Supper was a 3 oz piece of meatloaf my daughter made, broccolini and 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes.
I will be back tomorrow. :)
