that's about the only good thing about funerals - sometimes you see people you haven't seen in years!

Mornin' All!

I blew it big time at the banquet last night. We were the only two at our table (we were way in the back), and they had salads, cheesecake, and rolls set out for everyone before they brought the entrees out. I only ate half my entree (gave the other half to DH), but I had three pieces of cheesecake. I felt horrible last night and feel horrible this morning. So it's basically going to be protein, protein, protein today. And very few calories. I can't believe I did that. Some habits are forever lingering in the background, evidently, just waiting to come back. It's a lifelong battle. The damn cheesecake wasn't even that good.

the orthopedic surgery dept never got back to me yesterday about my mother's fracture, and they did say there was a small chance it would be this morning before they got back to me. But i read her hospital report yesterday afternoon, and it said it was an avulsion fracture. I had to google this. It's when a small piece of bone, attached to a tendon or ligament, breaks off from the main bone. It said in most cases, the fracture will heal itself and doesn't require surgery. So they usually just give you something for the pain, send you to PT when you're ready, and have you keep off of it as much as possible. It usually takes 3-12 weeks for it to heal. So...I guess that's a relief. She's in a lot of pain, though (the hydrocodone they gave her helps some, but not a lot (I had that same issue after my surgeries - those opioids don't do all that much), so someone will probably need to be with her 24/7 for a few days, anyway. We can probably leave her alone if she's just going to be in bed watching TV for awhile (if we make sure she uses the bathroom and has whatever she wants to eat or drink before we go so she doesn't have to get up while we're gone). but probably not for more than an hour or so. I'll see how she's doing today. I have one of my film discussion groups today, but with the transit time, it would be more like 90 minutes - two hours - not sure if it'd be good to leave her that long, but we'll see how she's doing today. I cancelled weekend plans since my sister wants to take most of the overnight "shifts" - which is fine by me.

QOTD: no weekend plans for me, unfortunately. I guess I'll get some reading done while my mom sleeps

B: Ratio protein yogurt, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: unless I'm at the film group (doubtful), then probably yogurt again

MS: yogurt?

D: cottage cheese

(hopefully I can stick to the above!!)

here is a picture of the extra cheesecake slices at the banquet last night, and one from last year doing what I'm often doing, trying to get work done on my laptop with a cat on my chest *****fuses to get off (it was in my FB memories this morning)
