What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
we haven't done a kitchen (yet..), but we've remodeled two bathrooms. I think they're almost as much of a pain as a kitchen remodel (although at least we have more than one - if a one and only bathroom was down, that would be a huge pain. We did have to deal with that for a few days because there was a slight delay on bathroom #1 (waiting for some part, I think...) and bathroom #2 was scheduled to start right after the scheduled finish date of bathroom #1, but at least it was just a few days, and we have a toilet in the basement...). Our family room remodel was much easier to tolerate. Having a kitchen or bathroom down is REALLY disruptive, though - but worth it in the end!
We were watching Tiny House Nation last night and I wonder if people enjoy rustic living because they grew up in a house with reliable hea****er, and cooling. I have no desire to be in any rustic place and a barn would so much intimidate me.
I want the roof, spouting, furnace, air conditioner, water, lights, sump pump and refrigerator to work without any real concerns. I struggled through enough issues with those things when I was young. I went through things like leaks, well pump going out, mopping up floors from flash flooding, furnace issues, and other house problems. I no longer have the energy to worry about them or to deal with them.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I would agree to that. I love Tiny House Nation but those composting toilets are a definite no go for me, or the ones you have to empty. Plumbing all the way.

We were told that a remodel either will break a marriage or make the couple stronger. May the force be with you!!
And take tons of pics.

Mornin' All!
looks like a gloomy day out, and it's cold to boot. We're supposed to get a rain/snow mix overnight. Ugh. Hopefully this'll be the end of it. Those near-70's days a week or two ago were a real teaser!
I have a massage scheduled for this afternoon, and I'm going to make a pot of chili. Other than that, the health dept is supposed to call me sometime this morning to either do a phone survey, or at least schedule one. The woman I'm the legal guardian of is on Medicaid, and this survey is about our satisfaction with the coverage and services, if I'm understanding this correctly. I was about having a meltdown about this last night because I feel like I really can't speak to this. I've only been her guardian for a few months, and she's institutionalized (and has been for a few years), and although the staff contacts me when something weird or a problem comes up, I'm really not that aware of the day-to-day care she receives. And God knows how satisfied she is with the services because she's schizophrenic and has had some brain damage to boot. And she's mostly non-communicative. But then it occurred to me that all I need to do is tell them this, and they should understand why I'm going to look like a complete nincompoop at some of the questions they're probably going to ask. As in how satisfied she is with the service. Ah...???? I don't even know how satisfied *I* am. How would I know? Anyway, we'll see how it goes.
QOTD: probably a course on how to find long-lost people. I do this all the time - finding people I went to grade school with, tracking down high school boyfriends/girlfriends for friends of mine who have no clue how to even get started. I even found the biological mother and brother for a friend of mine who was adopted in 1967.
B: plain skyr with blackberry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: rose/cardamon/vanilla protein shake (I could really do myself a tremendous favor by not drinking these fancy concoctions -- or sticking to fancy concoctions made with Fit Frappe (half the calories of other protein powders - although half the protein to boot), but the fact is, I love them. So I work the calories in somehow...)
L: I wrote down a Jimmy Dean's breakfast sandwich (the low cal one with turkey sausage and egg whites), but I may make some of my chickpea/miso spread this morning and have a sandwich made of that instead. On 35-calorie bread.
AS: protein muffin
D: chili (I decided to use the canned chicken for this - the can that I've had in my pantry for God knows how long. I think I originally bought it for a sick cat because I'd never buy that for myself, and I'm a little afraid of it - but it should be fine if hidden in a pot of spicy chili...)
have a great day, everyone!

I think it is important to work in treat calories so that you dont feel deprived. I do it with my cold brew coffee, sf chocolate, and popcorn.
