Mornin' All!
I have to take my mother to the doctor's this morning for yet another appt (she seems to have a lot of them - but then, she's 87 years old...). The appt is at 10:55, and she wants me to pick her up at 10:15. The doctor's office is a five-minute drive from her apartment. Guess I'd better take a book - between waiting all that time for them to call her back to the room, and then while she's actually in the appt - I'll otherwise get pretty bored just sitting there in the waiting room without something to do. I honestly don't get this - I've always been an early bird, but this is insane. Oh well - you can't argue with her.
I signed up for some two-hour Zoom program this afternoon - and after that I have a Zoom consultation with an animal behaviorist who hopefully will have some solution to our pooping cat (this started out of nowhere about four months ago). So...busy day.
QOTD: I have the BBC on all night on my bedside radio. And in the summer, I have the ceiling fan going, too (the latter more because I get too hot otherwise, because the radio is my "white noise"). It's really hard for me to fall asleep to silence when we're away from home, so if I have a laptop or tablet with me, I'll often stream the BBC.
B: maybe just a protein shake. Not hungry. Oh - and coffee with half & half (already had)
MS: I should probably take a protein bar or something with me in case this doctor's appt thing (and all the waiting around for it) goes later than i think
L: I'll likely do a later one since it's almost 9:00 and I haven't even had breakfast yet - let alone my morning snack. Maybe a piece of cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie.
AS: if needed, a cup of cottage cheese and some diced mango
D: 1/2 a chickpea/miso sandwich on Keto bread, cabbage with Asian-style dressing
have a great day, everyone!!!
Hello Menu Friends,
It is my official surgery anniversary! Woot! Woot! In the last year I have lost more weight than I currently weigh, so crazy. Now just need to figure out the elevated liver enzymes. No abdominal pain so that is good.
I called for an update on the cat we will be adopting. Nothing new added to the cat's medical chart, which the vet says no news is good news. So it sounds like he is recovering still under vet care. Should be a few more weeks until he can come home with us.
QOTD: Dark, dark, dark, and cool in the room so that I can snuggle under the covers. Prefer minimal covers (bedspread with one light blanket). In the summer, I always have the ceiling fan on for air circulation. I take 3 mg melatonin plus a hydroxyzine to help fall asleep.
B: fasting for ultrasound
S: cold brew with half n half, caramel drizzle
L: lettuce, grilled chicken, carrots, mini cucumber, tomato, ff french dressing
S: Core Power protein
D: Citrus Salmon (a new recipe), roasted veggies
S: 100 cal bag popcorn, 2 squares sf dark chocolate bar
E: 60 min walk

I may have mentioned this, but i had elevated liver enzymes for the first year or 18 months after surgery. By year 2, they were normal. I read it's not uncommon for them to be elevated while you're losing weight because weight loss is hard on the liver - and we're losing a TON of it. Hopefully that's all it is...

Happy surgiversary 1/2 Lana!!
you have done great, I hope you feel that way.
My enzymes are elevated also. I got a referral to a liver specialist who basically said "you had a liver biopsy at surgery,(they took a sliver of liver during my RNY) it looked fine, why are you here?"
Of course I still see her once a year. As I discussed with Mary, it's hard to shake a doctor once you are referred.

Melody, I am sorry to hear your news about the surgeon. If you need to go out of town for the pain management specialist, maybe you can be referred to a surgeon in the same area who may be willing to perform the fusion.

QOTD- Dark room, winter-down comforter, electric blanket, wool blanket. Summer-down comforter and wool blanket. Even in Maui that is what I had on the bed.
OK here's the trip information. I got gas, returned the rental car and slogged with way too much to carry to the terminal. I had to wait in line for over an hour to get up to guest services. I couldn't check in myself because of Sammy, so we had no choice but to wait. By the time I got done it took forever to get through TSA screening. They made me take Sammy out of the carrier and walk through the metal detector with him. They x-rayed the carrier, and then there was an issue with my 27" monitor, they saw something so I had to cut the tape and get it out of the box. The strap that my roommate had improvised broke, so I was carrying it under my arm, Sammy in the other and a backpack on my back. I was so tire from walking and carrying that damn monitor I had to stop and rest several times. Add to that 80+ degree temps and 80% humidity and I was soaking wet. I finally got close to the gate was about 100 ft away and they called my name and said the doors are closing. So I wave my arm and struggle the last few feet to the gate. There was no room for the monitor, and I was afraid it wouldn't make it but they put it in cargo and it arrive in one piece.
Sammy took up all of the room under the seat and I wasn't organized enough to figure out what I needed out of my backpack, so I ended up having to get it out of the overhead twice in flight. I had brought some food, ahi jerky and rice krispies treats. But the only thing I could find was the rice krispies treat. The meal was nothing I would eat some kind of chicken sandwich in a dough wrap, fritos and a chocolate macadamia nut candy. I don't eat chicken, I don't like fritos so my whole days food was a Greek Yogurt for breakfast, a rice krispies treat and the macadamia nut candy. Not a balanced diet. I was also so thirsty and dehydrated from my exertions that I think I had 8 small glasses of water on the plane. I was still thirsty.
Sammy was quiet for most of the flight, but towards the end he wasn't happy. I figure he makes up for the screaming children I had to listen to.
I got smarter in PDX and got a luggage cart, what a difference...My roommate was late picking me up. It was after 9PM and I was trying to find some water, still thirsty and I asked the information desk where I could buy some and Mike the kindly man there gave me 2- 8oz bottles. I chugged the first one, and drank most of the 2nd one on the way home.
I know I'm done traveling for a while.
My car won't be leaving Maui until tomorrow and I don't know when it'll get to Tacoma. It really sucks to not have a car, my roommates truck should be fixed by tomorrow so I will be able to make my hair appointment.
The sun is shining here, but it's not very warm I'll take it anyway.
I need to get back to work.
Have a great day everyone!
