What's on your photo Friday menu?
Mernin' errybody!
QOTD - we have a work event, so hubs and I will be working for three hours down south at something called Saspamco Showdown. It's a kayak event at one of the parks that our organization owns and maintains. I've been promised snacks and lunch.
Breakfast - fasting so hot black coffee and water
Lunch - I have a working lunch and they are bringing pizza. Last time the pizza was covered with meat and no veggie options (BOO) so I may go pick up my own veggie pizza. I don't know if my request was put in soon enough or not.
Dinner - Meeting old Rackspace friends at a local Italian place called the Purple Garlic and looking forward to old friends and GREAT food! I'm already planning on a huge salad and crusty bread with roasted garlic, it's the best.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
Christina
Let it begin with me.

Yay! kayaking, can't wait for it to be warm enough to do that again.

Mornin' Everyone!
Melody, again, those photos are fabulous - and the one of Mona is hilarious, too - that expression! You really should consider going into pet photography!
so I was able to reschedule the lunch with my friend. Next week will be a better week for it since, unlike this week, I don't think I have any other "eating events" planned. We're supposed to get a messy rain/snow mix today (my excuse for rescheduling), but as of this morning, they say it won't get underway until later on this afternoon. It's still too warm, so it's just rain. Which is a good thing because I have to run one of the cats over to the vet clinic at 9:30 to repeat a blood draw because of some botched lab thing - they weren't able to get results. Hopefully we won't be charged again... Other than that, nothing going on today, other than I planned for a 1500 calorie day and I'm NOT going to go over that today!
QOTD: I think the only thing planned is my family is going to get together sometime tomorrow to celebrate my late father's birthday with reubens (his favorite food - besides carrot cake and Greek yogurt). We usually do the carrot cake as well, but I wanted to skip that this year - more calories that I don't need. His birthday is really today, but between the weather forecast tonight and a couple of us having to put in a full day of work, the preference was tomorrow. Anyway, nothing else planned at the moment.
B: plain skyr with some kind of compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: half a miso/chickpea sandwich and coleslaw made with Asian dressing
AS: plain Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder (hopefully this will be protein-dense enough to power me through the afternoon - my worst time for snacking!)
D: a cup of whole wheat spaghetti topped with two TJ"s turkey meatballs and marinara sauce
this is from the brunch/film watching party yesterday. This is half my film group - those of us (other than the host) who don't subscribe to Disney+ (the only streaming service this film was available on) (film was "The Rescue" - we were surprised it wasn't more widely available) (btw - the woman sitting next to me in the white sweater is my mother-in-law)
at these kinds of eating events, my goal is to not overdo it (I used to be great at keeping it at "bariatric proportions", but I seem to have lost my resolve these last few years...). I ended the day at around 1800 calories yesterday - which, although not crazy high (at least not for me), I'll gain on that if I'm consistently eating that much. So if it happens a couple of times a month, no damage done. But when I have one of those weeks like I had last week, with three or four meals out - yea, big problem.
I saw a post recently about using egg crepes (the ones you buy) to make noodles for pasta. Apparently, you take a serving (or however many noodles you want) of the egg crepes, using scissors cut into noodles, boil for 1 minute. The texture is suppose to be wonderful. I haven't tried it yet but will eventually. One way to reduce "pasta" calories.

haven't heard about that one - but I'll have to give it a try! I do have one of those spiralizers so I can make zucchini "noodles", but I haven't done that in quite awhile. It's not that hard, so I don't know why I haven't done it. Of course, you can also buy them - but it's way cheaper to make them yourself. The egg ones would also give you some extra protein, though. Hmmm..
