Good morning everybody!

I'm trying to multitask with a conference call going on right now. Typos may be worse than usual.

I have to get bloodwork this afternoon, so meals are up in the air.

QOTD: mostly flowers and a few vegetables in any given year. We used to do a lot more and enjoyed it. Maybe in the future.

Have a great day, all!

QOTD. I grow some fruit: bananas, mangos, guava trees. I have lots of orchids, most on porch and a few in the trees. Hurricane Irma tore my mango tree to the ground so now it is a gigantic bush shrub. I am expecting fruit this year from it. I have grown herbs from time to time in pots or beds. The soil is sand with nematodes so not good for veggies unless it is treated and heavily conditioned. But my yard is heavily vegetated with mostly natives that I have planted. A neighbor commented once but you can't see the house and I go that was the point. Multiple hurricanes have removed many mature trees, but I still have a lot left. Because I have so much vegetation, there are tons of critters and birds.

Today is dentist for my husband, we are going back and forth with it. It's next to Trader Joe's so I will be over there. I need nothing but I will find something to buy.

Food will be oranges, trying to eat them up. Florida oranges, but last years crop, so not so good. I surprise myself how many I can eat. When I was in grade school we used to come home and sit under the orange trees in the yard, pick and eat them for snacks. Tonight will be soft tacos with meat and beans. Mine will be in a bowl sans tortillas.

My mother could make anything grow and had a house and yard full of beautiful healthy plants. My dad was from Ireland. He saved the old potatoes that grew eyes, put them in a tub of water and then cut out the eyes and planted them on St. Patricks Day. We had potatoes early that lasted until fall.

I have no talent for plants. I am getting ready to throw away one that is called a cast iron plant. It grows with almost no light and survives all kinds of neglect. I water it and mist it and it still dies. i am replacing it with an artificial one. Plants do wonderful for a while and then die. I am so over it. Same with the garden. I just buy produce and herbs now.

Good morning all!

I'm still in a funk and dealt with my father's health issues confronting his doctor last night. I'm overwhelmed and I'm not coping well. I allowed myself to buy cookies and ravaged them like the cookie monster I am. I am seeing old habits creep back up. I am acknowledging it was a poor decision, it happened, and I can only control the present and future when it comes to good eating. Not a valid excuse cause life happens. Rant over.

QOTD: I used to have a couple tomato plants in 5 gallon buckets in the concrete jungle that is my backyard. They were fun to watch grow but diidn't get any substantial harvest from them. Maybe I'll try again cause they were enjoyable.

We are human, and these things happen. Oreos are the cookie i would end up eating like that, so i have not bought them in years. There is a certain chocolate that only one store sells around her and that is not convenient for me. But if i find myself in that store, I always buy some and eat them way too quickly. I eat Fiber One cookies. They are a cookie, but not good enough to want a second on

I help people to do their taxes. Once I was working with a guy who had a lot of difficult things to report and he told me that after we were done he was going to the gym. I said that was nice. He said, "you think I am going to the gym to exercise, but I am not, I am going to the Jim Beam". I have to do my own taxes tomorrow and might be tempted to go buy some Oreos when I am done.

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

I have been MIA since last Thursday, I am bad about finding time to post when I am off but I should be better. Friday we drive the 6 hours to pick up the truck my FIL gave my daughter. If you recall, the first time we were to bring it home we had an oil leak so we couldn't bring it home. This time we got half way home when the check engine light came on and the oil gauge showed lost pressure. We checked and the truck still had oil but he could see that there was fresh oil on the engine, so we limped it to the nearest public parking lot. Luckily, it happened just as we were nearing town (Missoula, MT). We ended up leaving the truck in Missoula, calling a local friend who had the truck towed the next day to his favorite garage. Today we got the verdict on what needed repairs. Apparently, it needs a new engine to the tune of around $5000. At this point it is a lost cause. We will list it on Craigslist for sale, some motorhead will want the truck and will be able to replace the engine at a lower cost since they can do the work themselves. Bummer, it was a waste of a day sitting in a car traveling back and forth, not to mention the cost of gas!

We ended up not going skiing this weekend. I think all of us were too tired to get up early due to the time change. My goal is going this coming Sunday. However, I did get a chance to have dinner with a friend I reconnected with. We were best friends in junior high and high school until she moved away. We have gotten together multiple times but it has been a few months due to work, life, and COVID. Yesterday, I went on a nice long hilly 4 mile walk. Tomorrow DD and I are going to Wicked. That should be fun.

QOTD: Several years ago my DD asked for a garden (veggie) for her birthday. We built her a 12 X 30 garden (raised) which we planted raspberry bushes, blackberries, gooseberry bushes. Last year we added a couple of blueberry bushes (outside the planter). then come spring we plant additional produce. This year we plan on peas, zucchinni, anaheim peppers, bell peppers, onions, carrots. We usually over-plant for the space. This year we are adding a couple more planting areas using raised planters. We also have a separate planter that has grapes and strawberry plants. Unfortunately that area does get alot of shade but this year we should finally have some grapes.
