What's on your Wednesday menu?
It surprised me that New York is not on the list of top cities. Since my family is from Ireland, it is sort of funny that they don't make much of a big deal out of St Patrick's Day and laugh at the Americans in their green clothes.
Of course there are celebrations, but they are mainly for the tourists. But it is more of a religious day than a party day. The display of Irish pride in the US was because the Irish in the 1800's were looked down upon as poor, lazy, dirty, drunken people.
A lot of that had to do with them being Catholic in a very Protestant and hate fulled society. The KKK really stood for hatred of Koons, Katholics, and ****s which meant blacks, Catholics and Jews. There were many old KKK'ers around when I was growing up. We wore green to show pride and resist their prejudice.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
The week seems to be going slowly, but just may be because I worked on Monday. However, tomorrow is my Friday for work. The lunch went really well yesterday. I ordered the salmon, it had a wonderful huckleberry wine sauce instead of tartar. I did get zucchini instead of fingerling potatoes. I will admit to being tempted by the cake, I took a couple of tiny bits from the frosting and the cake, but it looked better than it tasted. I still was tempted to eat it anyway but managed to refrain! That is a win in my book. Some days I just want to snack and know it is in my head. More water please!!
Today, I woke up early so I headed to work. This works out well because I need to leave around 3 to take DD to a laser hair removal appointment. Several years ago I did laser hair removal on my underarms (stubble is so unsightly), which I really like so I offered it to my daughter when the spa had it on sale. The only problem is that it takes 8 appointments about 6-8 weeks apart and the spa is the opposite way from my house leaving from work.
