What's on your Wednesday menu?
Yes! I just got the CAPM 2/23. I did the exam prep through PMI, it was a 3-day course. Then, I studied on my own. For full transparency, I let a lot of time go by from the course (October 2021****il I took the actual exam (February 2022).
I recommend taking the class, studying as much as you can, and then taking the exam. The practice tests are a very good indicator of the exam itself. I only had about 4-5 math questions and they were very basic. The project I am assigned to at work will give me the 12 months of general PM experience plus the 8 months of agile, so I can get the PMI-ACP that I want. For me in IT, that will be good to hold me until I get my PMP.
Get familiar with the PMBOK guide of course. Learn the ITTOs (project management process groups, knowledge areas)
Take practice tests, and focus on what you don't know. Then, take those tests again.
There are Facebook groups you can join for CAPM, PMP, etc. I like those because you can talk to people who are also preparing for the tests, or who have successfully completed the tests.
Super excited for you!

Christiana I can't express how proud I feel about your accomplishment. I did a lot of project management but never took the PMP certification exams. I specialized in cybersecurity and was certified as CISSP. After I retired, I certified as an IRS Enrolled Agent.
I mentor people who are working on certification and always stress how important it is to not just have a wish but to turn that wish into a goal by putting a date onto it. Certification is so important in a professional career and puts you at the top of the list in any organization. It demonstrates that you are smart, driven, and accomplish what you set out to do.
When you pass your PMP and get your certification, there a company called Framing Achievement that will make you a beautiful, personalized frame to display it.

Thank you so much, I appreciate that! When I left a former company after 20 years of IT, I felt very defeated and lost. It took me a long time to gain my confidence back and remember exactly who I was. So now, to be back in the saddle learning new aspects of a career is fantastic! I had forgotten how exciting it truly is to learn new things and put them into use. Now, I am in charge of a 600k project, that will have a lifespan of 3 years. Not too shabby!

When people I know have a 50th birthday, I share my take on how life works with them. We will probably be able to expect to live 100 years. The first 20 are mostly controlled by parents and school.
The next 20-30 are mostly spent getting married, raising children, and experimenting with finding the right career.
The remaining 50 are yours to make decisions based on your desires. They become the fun years and they get more fun with each decade. Because you have gone through the learning experiences and the experiences of having to plan your life around the needs and control of others. From 50 to 100 is your time to glow.
Learning is joy when it is what you want and not what your are told you have to do. Enjoy it.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Good morning! Looking at a busy day today again. That will help me keep my food under control. Yesterday was pretty successful. I did have a tiny bite of coffee cake in the morning. No extras through the rest of the day. Hoping for the same today. Also hoping we have a full crew today. These people are making me crazy!!!
QoTD: I agree I am so heartened by the reaction of people everywhere helping the Ukrainians. From the Airbnb type things to people opening their homes. It reminds me that I am right in my constant search of peace and love -- and the majority of people just want the same thing.
Menu:
B: leftover swedish meatballs and cottage cheese.
L: leftover chili
D: new recipe. Lasagna made with polenta instead of noodles. I'll eat mostly the sauce and ricotta, but I am looking forward to trying this one out. (Don't have a heart attack, Sheila!)
Peace Everybody
