What's on your Wednesday Menu?
Good morning! I lurked for the first 6 months or so too. Then one day Queen JB put up a post about introducing yourself and your story and I took a breath and jumped in. This specific forum is the most adult, respectful social media space I have seen. One person went a little off the rails, but JB put an end to that.
Anyway! We have season tickets for the Civic Center Broadway shows. And sadly, we had to trade in our Come From Away tickets for last nights show The Bands Visit. And I hated it. HATED! Dang it.
And yes, meeting locals is great. I've met with Sheila in person near her home, and several of us are going to the OH conference in Costa Mesa later this year. Send me an email and we can exchange emails and maybe chat more that way as well. It's a definite eye opening journey with this surgery. We all need support! I work (for the next 30 days) off of Miramar so we are pretty close during the week.
Good Morning Queen JB and Menuers,
Hump Day!! Yeah. I guess Egg day for QJB. Good luck with that.
I am truly in a bunch of pain and cannot wait to get this arm fixed. I know it is not a quick recovery but the sooner the better. Just hoping I am ready to start training again in a couple of months I really want to run my 4th of July race again this year.
QOTD: I always go with dress for the Job you want and not the Job you have. However, I am sitting here in jeans. This is tuff. I still believe business casual and above is appropriate for teachers.
Accountability: I ate some carrots last night that did not sit well with me. I may not have chewed enough. So after that I could not put anything else in.

were the carrots raw? Raw carrots still irritate my stomach even at (almost) seven years out. But I've been known to use that to my advantage on days when I can't control my eating. If I eat enough raw carrots, my stomach feels like crap and the last thing I want to do is eat more (carrots or otherwise!)

I think that way too - what can I eat to shut my pouch down?

You have my sympathy, Teenie. Rotator cuff is very uncomfortable surgery. Fortunately, they usually put a pain pump in for the first 12 to 24 hours, so a person can get the other pain meds up to therapeutic levels before it runs out. Once you get past that 1st week, it improves quickly. I had 2 full thickness rotator cuff tears and greater than 90% detached bicep. No idea where any of that came from. Good luck to you and I hope you'll be ready for your marathon.

Good morning everybody!
Don't you feel so smart when you watch Wheel of Fortune?
This actually happened:
Contestant Laura: Another Feather in your hat?
Contestant Christopher: Another Feather in your gap?
Contestant Thomas spins a Bankruptcy
Laura (second time): Another feather in your lap?
Christopher: Another feather in your dap?
Contestant Thomas spins a lose your turn
Laura (third try): Guesses P successfully, And the the Piece De Resistance "Another feather in your map?:
Christopher spins Bankruptcy
And finally, Thomas guesses the letter C, and put us all out of our misery!
In fairness to Thomas, he may have just had bad luck with his spins.
The key though is to turn the channel after Wheel because Jeopardy will kill your buzz. Otherwise, you are going up against Partly Pollyana instead of the legendary Laura and her feather filled lap.
I got my PR in Grace. 7 minutes 30 seconds. I was at the bottom of everybody who did it RX, but I was still happy. I'm also the oldest and many younger than me scaled.
QOTD: If Christopher is guessing "another feather in your dap", I think that teacher dress code is the least of our problems. Our office has gone to complete casual in an effort to lure people back.
Breakfast: Protein bar
Lunch: Turkey burger
Dinner: TBD
Have a great day, all!

Good morning QJB and everyone from Ramrod Key, Florida. This place is so phenomenal with a screened porch that the main area opens onto, decks, and a boat dock. With fabulous breezes (today at least). This is going to be a good month! Hawaii and Arizona were also wonderful but we were on the go a lot visiting other places and hiking. We will be more relaxed here except: Two weeks until our wedding day!
QOTD: That is a REALLY good question. Our place (formerly Mike's) in Florida has a strict dress code with no denim of any sort (jeans, jacket) allowed in the main clubhouse. It dates back to a more formal time when the place was originally built. We were discussing this morning that if they truly want younger people (right now they consider us 66/67 year olds to be young), they need to loosen up on the dress code. IMO I am okay with excluding denim with holes and ripped edges, but in Florida EVERYONE wears denim out. Actually they do on Cape Cod and did in Scottsdale Arizona even at finer restaurants. BUT: this question is different because of the role model aspect. But most work places are business casual and usually allow jeans at least on some days. So MAYBE a model like that would be appropriate?
ETA: I haven't really been tracking/planning food during our 3 months of travels, but I have tried to stick to a usual breakfast or lunch, split dinners and minimize snacking. I did have the nerve to weigh a couple of days ago and I had lost about 1-2 pounds since before we left at the beginning of January. I'd like to be lighter, but at least I didn't gain any!
