Thank you!!! We keep them in the box in our closet so we do not eat them every day, what a great alternative. I feel like the biggest change I have made is consistency. I am saying no on a regular basis.

Congrats on the ISO certification; it's no joke to get started there! Mergers/acquisitions/change of control is hard, I always tell my teams to give it time because there will be a lot of change the first year...and if you decide it's not for you, make sure you're running toward something not away from something.

Mornin' All!

today will be a tough food day to navigate. I'm having lunch with a friend (the one who's moving to the Chicago suburbs in a few days), and then we're going to a social tonight, where people will bring wine, desserts, and appetizers. The lunch is at a Mexican place, so I plan on getting a street taco. Tonight is going to be a tough one, so my goal is to just not go overboard. I've done well enough the past few days that I should be OK as long as I don't go crazy. Not much else going on around here. I might go to water aerobics this morning - and may watch a movie this afternoon.

QOTD: the most creative i get is with baking (I used to hate baking until COVID hit - now it's kind of a stress relief for me). I especially make muffins. I play around with recipes, trying to increase the fiber, decrease the fat, and using fake sweeteners. Oh - and adding protein powder to increase the protein. However, last night I made cookies for the party tonight, so I just followed the recipe (as baking "experiments" don't always work out as intended!). I made these Moroccan cookies made with semolina flour and almond flour. The recipe called for optional rosewater, but I decided to leave it out since a lot of Americans are turned off by rose flavoring, since we don't really use it in the US (it's very popular in some other cultures, though - like the Middle East). The cookies are fine, but now I wish I'd have added the rosewater. I think they would have been even better! I guess I could have just mentioned the rosewater on an index card I plan to put in the container, along with the "warning" about almond flour (i.e., nuts...)

B: plain skyr with 1/2 diced cooked apple. Coffee with half & half

MS: I was thinking last night that I might make a vanilla protein shake today and add some rosewater to it (and maybe a little cardamon, too). Might be interesting change. So probably that.

L: street taco, 10 tortilla chips

AS: I may just have a bowl of All-Bran (with unsweetened almond milk) in hopes it'll keep me from eating too much at the party

D: I have no idea!

I haven't taken any pictures lately, but I posted this on FB yesterday. I went down an internet rabbit hole the other night when I couldn't sleep. I was reading up on Groucho Marx. I learned that in his later years, he was good buds with his neighbor, Alice Cooper. Alice used to go to Groucho's house several nights a week, and they'd drink beer and watch old movies together. I never in a million years would have placed those two together - but I thought this was cool! So I found this picture of the two of them together (they were out at a restaurant or something - so not at Groucho's house)

I don't love rosewater so I have sometimes swapped orange blossom water instead when a recipe called for rosewater.

I've heard people say they think it's like eating hand lotion - so it's a turn off. I think in retrospect, it's probably good I left it out - but if I ever make these just for us, I'll put it in!
