Good morning ! Happy Valentine's Day my friends! Woke up with my two favorite Valentine's cuddling under my covers with me. A great way to start the day. We got a lot more work done on the back patio and in the garage. The lights are on the awning and the pool table is almost uncovered. I spent a lot of time cleaning and dusting the bar area. As much as my back would allow. But I'd say we are on track to have recovered our "garage bar" by the end of this week. My husband is working on getting the wine fridge rewired as it stopped working sometime in the last few months of chaos and I got all the bar mats and such through the dishwasher and polished the top of the bar. Rog has to wash all the glass ware yet, and still has to dispose of a few more things and put up a new light fixture. But major progress! Then we watched the game, the kids came over and we had dinner and a drink and then when the parents left, we sat on the deck with a small fire and made S'mores with the grand girls. A perfect end to the day.

Today, we have the girls all day for President's day and we plan on a big bike ride and lunch at a fun burger joint. The weather is still supposed to be warm today, so I want to get out in it. Supposed to drop like 30-40 degrees tomorrow.

QoTD: My favorites have been these last 10 years or so. Each year, I have helped my husband select flowers for two of our widowed dear friends and he sends them to them. He also usually sends them to me at work, our daughter, niece and my best friend, but in the interest of making better decisions with retirement looming, we cut down to just the first two. And I feel great about that.

Menu:

B: chicken and cottage cheese

L: at the burger place, so the insides of something. And they have ketchup that is packed with bacon. So yeah, I'll be having a few fries so I can scoop some of that up.

D: I think roasted chicken - or - pork chops. We'll see how tired I am after a day of chasing the girls.

Peace Everybody!

Is your back all recovered? It sounds like you are moving around much better.

I'm saying I am about 78% back. I did a lot of self care this weekend, and I am not bending and lifting. I still can't sit without back support for more than a few minutes, or stand long. But, I am definitely on the road to recovery. I did quit on the cleaning thing yesterday and came in to take a nap with a heating pad! I feel like a bit of exercise to stretch me out may be a good thing so I am looking forward to the bike ride. Thanks for asking.

What a wonderful thoughtful thing to do for widows on Valentines day. Do you do something for the male widowed friends also?

We actually don't have any widowed men in our group. Though we do have several single men. My husband says I collect them.

G'morning all!

Happy V day! I love that meme!

This year was my first year having a galentine, and let me tell you we all decided we wanna do this every year going forward. I have a ton of pics of the views of pebble beach that I'll post on Fri. We got very lucky that the sun was shining and the fog didn't roll in till later. It was a perfect day for some women bonding and holding each other up.

Update on tiramisu: the neighbors texted me on Sat afternoon (they received the tiramisu on Thu morning) that they were enjoying it with their afternoon tea. No wonder they are so skinny, they held onto a tray of tiramisu for two full days for a Sat afternoon tea!!!

QOTD: growing up we never had valentines for kids. In other words in Europe Valentines is only for couples. Kids don't give anything out in school and parents don't give anything to kids. Infact I was very surprised when the first year DD was in preschool and we had to prepare little cards and goodie bags for the whole class. I thought DH was making it up. I've had the good fortune of having many memorable V days; Italian men are very demonstrative of their feelings and they like to one up each other to spoil their gfs on V day. Nowadays I like better the low key celebration.

My meals yesterday:

  • Coffee + gs cookies (yup, we started the day with a bang)
  • Crispy calamari
  • Shrimp stir fry
  • Three different desserts (mud cake was involved)
  • More tiny cupcakes
  • E: Rest day

Happy V day to all of you lovely peeps!
