Thank you everyone. At this point in the morning I'm feeling more positive. Put on my big girl pants and had a few good cries, mostly over my uncle. One was over pain. It was cathartic and now I feel better.

I am also one who would rather not celebrate my birthday...but then I read this quote from Henri Nouwen and decided that to celebrate.
Birthdays need to be celebrated. I think it is more important to celebrate a birthday than a successful exam, a promotion, or a victory. Because to celebrate a birthday means to say to someone: "Thank you for being you." Celebrating a birthday is exalting life and being glad for it. On a birthday we do not say: "Thanks for what you did, or said, or accomplished." No, we say: "Thank you for being born and being among us."
On birthdays we celebrate the present. We do not complain about what happened or speculate about what will happen, but we lift someone up and let everyone say: "We love you." -Henri Nouwen
Happy Birthday, Mel! Don't you dare wish your day away! You're valid, important, and pretty damn special! You're meant to be here, made up of stardust and surely, you deserve your spot in the sun just as much as anyone else on this crazy rock hurling through space! My wish for you today is that you have some joy and peace, and you take time to love yourself amidst all the craziness and the pain. Hug yourself, and truly tell yourself how worthy and truly important you are. Because you ARE loved, and you are so very special!
