What's on your Monday Menu?
Good morning, everybody!
I think that I got a sunburn while I was Ice fishing yesterday. Is that even a thing? There is a tournament next Saturday that my older son and I used to participate in, and I decided to do it this year, mostly because I miss having him home. So yesterday I went out on a trial run. And seem to have a sunburned face to show for it. Next week sunscreen will be applied even though it is below freezing out.
We had a good weekend. Marilyn had tennis all three days, but otherwise we mostly relaxed and stayed close to home. For Christmas, Marilyn had got me a new wedding band so we picked that up from being sized on Saturday night. I love it, but it takes a little getting used after 32 years with the same simple gold band. I also ordered one of those silicone wedding bands from Rogue. It's not like I am concerned that somebody is going to sneak up and try to marry me during Filthy Fifty but having a ritual of putting on the gym ring and storing the actual wedding ring in the same place every time helps me to keep from losing it.
Our plan to savor the Reacher episodes went up in smoke - 3 on Thursday, 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. We really liked the series, hopefully they make a second season. Die Trying is the second book.
We bought ingredients for Super Bowl themed ****tails. (Blue, White and Gold Rams, Black, White and Orange Bengals) So, I am the proud owner of Black Vodka. Undoubtedly, at some point in the future we will ask each other "why on earth do we have black vodka in the cabinet?"
I should run, lots to do today.
QOTD: I haven't got around to it yet, partly because of Reacher. I'm sure we will.
Breakfast: egg sandwich
Lunch: Turkey
Dinner: Eggplant parm
Have a great day, all!

I am interested to see what Sheila thinks. A couple of years ago, one of the very rare English words that she didn't know was "jacked." She looked it up and came back saying that she did not like men who were jacked. So, I'm curious now.

Yeah, he's massive. I mean all due respect, he must work out. A lot. But I came in the last three episodes and was hooked. I did have a lot of questions which of course made my husband super happy... but it ended quite well.
Have you watched Dark on Netflix? OMG

Let it begin with me.

Mornin' All!
I have my children's/YA book discussion group this morning at 10:00, then my cat sees his ophthalmologist at 12:30. I'm hoping against hope that his corneal ulcer is FINALLY gone so we can quit with the eye drops already! He's been getting them 4x a day since October, which basically has meant no day or weekend trips for us. Since it's winter, and given the omicron outbreak, it's not like we would have gone anywhere the last couple of months ANYWAY (although we might have last fall when this all started), but with spring coming - well, I need to get out once in awhile. Fingers crossed the thing is gone!!
eating has been much better for the last week or so, but DH brought two pieces of pizza home on Saturday night and I stupidly had one which screwed up my calories for the day. It wasn't even that good. I need to stop doing that. Other than that, food and exercise have been really on target for several days now.
speaking of TV shows, have you guys seen "Abbott Elementary"? One of my friends on FB (a former co-worker) who has since gotten her PhD in education, posted about it the other day. It's a new series on ABC about an inner-city school in Philadelphia. She said it was great. I checked ABC's Web site for the day and time, and the already-broadcasted shows are on there! So I watched some of them this weekend - she's right, it's very good! I really like the characters. Anyway, it's on on Thursday nights.
QOTD: I haven'****ched any of it. Before it started I was thinking I'd watch some of the women's hockey games since some of our university's players are on the US and Canadian teams, but I haven't. Some games are on at weird hours, and some are on stations we don't get (we don't have cable) so that's that...
B: skyr with cranberry/cherry compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: I won't have much time, so I may just grab a protein bar or protein cookie and eat it in the car on the way to the vet clinic
AS: slice of malt loaf, L&F yogurt
D: chickpea/miso sandwich, coleslaw made with Asian-style dressing
have a great day, everyone!
