What an amazing way to honor your son. I would say that if you need to, you could consider this a "not-January day" and do what you need to get through. Some days just need to exist outside of time.

Thinking of you on your son's birthday. Birthdays and holidays are hard, not to mention weddings. It has been almost 17 years since I lost my eldest DD.

QOTD- I never did make it to my goal weight. I've been stalled around 168 and I guess that is where I'm staying. I'm not sure 145 was honestly realistic. At one point in my 30's I got down to 135 but couldn't maintain it. It's just a number and as long as my clothes fit and I feel healthy is all that matters.

I'm still struggling, and unhappy. I haven't done any of the things that I came here for and I have only myself to blame. I have to say that I honestly hate the condo that I bought. I'm hoping I won't lose money on it, because even if I stay I don't see myself living here. I have so many regrets and I'm not sure I can get over them, but it's in the past and I can't keep looking back. I don't miss the snow, or cold but it is hard to stay cool without spending a fortune for electricity. So I sweat a lot, and refuse to use the A/C. Hopefully my body will get acclimatized soon.

Sorry to be miss doom and gloom. Tomorrow is my birthday and I have no one to celebrate with. That too is just a number, as I get closer to my full retirement age for social security.

I had a session with my counselor yesterday and will again in 2 weeks, maybe that will help.

Have a great day everyone!

I hope you manage to have a good birthday tomorrow. Pick one thing on your list of things you would like to do and do it. It can be hard to get started in a new place but it's not all or nothing. Maybe do a whale watching tour? Or a boat trip to find the spinner dolphins?

Julia - you are in Hawaii for the next year. What ever you end up doing, please make sure you have no regrets. Do everything you ever wanted to do and for all the reasons you moved there! Who knows, you may find your true paradise along the way. If not, you will know it just wasn't for you - no regrets.

Do something to celebrate you on your birthday. Make it special for yourself. Do an activity that you moved to Hawaii to do but haven't done yet. Reach out to friends and family by phone you haven't talked to in awhile. Happy Early Birthday!!

G'morning all!

Great QOTD for this time of the year. Makes us take a look at what we have done and what we should do this year. And this is the safest place to share those short comings and hopes.

QOTD: my personal goal weight was never too low for my height. 5'5" and 140 lbs. That was my weight before I got pregnant with my kids. I was never a skinny person but I felt good in my skin. The Dr said due to passage of time and that I'm no longer as young to put the goal weight at 150. In my head my goal was 140. I reached it two years after surgery (121 lbs down). I sorta maintained it for about a year and then the bouncing started. Both the bariatric coordinator and my trainer tell me a bounce of 5 lbs is normal for everybody. So my goal weight is 140-145, and as of this morning I'm 152.4. Before the holidays I was bouncing around 146-148. So back to work and getting back into my bouncing range of 140-145.

For the next 4 days my meals will be almost the same. Had to do a ctrl+alt+delete from the holiday eating. My meals yesterday:

  • B: bullet coffee
  • L: hb eggs + unexpected cheddar
  • S: hb egg + pecorino Romano
  • D: egg drop soup
  • E: 30 minutes cardio + 60 minutes weight training

Have a great taco Tue.

actually, I think 10-20 lbs is a more common rebound weight. But it might depend on where you started and how much you lost.
