Mornin' All!

JB - it's about the time of year for norovirus outbreaks, so hard to tell if that's what is or some food-related thing. Either one usually lasts just a day or two, so hopefully it's about over!

I'm going to Aqua Zumba in about an hour, other than that, nothing planned other than a social event tonight. It's a monthly thing that one of my social organizations sponsors. They're a lot of fun, but there's always a lot of food, so I need to be careful. I made apple cheesecake bars last night to take to the thing (we're supposed to bring an appetizer or a dessert). I've been wanting to make them but didn't want a whole pan of them sitting around the house for days on end - so this is perfect. Most if not all of them should be gobbled up tonight - so there won't be many - or any - to bring home. Another social event tomorrow night - a cookie party. This woman has it every year, and she makes the cookies. At least I won't be bringing any home...

QOTD: Berber carpeting in the finished part of the basement, ceramic tile in the bathrooms, and commercial grade vinyl tile in the kitchen (the same stuff they put in places like schools and hospitals - looks like those old 1950s linoleum tiles - and supposedly lasts just as long (basically, forever...)). Everything else is oak. Most of it original - but when we remodeled our upstairs family room about 10 years ago, we had the oak floor installed (this room was added to the house back in the 70s, I think - and had carpeting over plywood. Didn't want carpeting again since we have cats - they claw it, vomit on it, and have "accidents" on it - hardwood is much easier to clean).

B: plain skyr with chia seeds and blueberry/blackberry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: cottage cheese with cranberry/cherry compote

AS: something with a lot of fat or fiber so I'm less likely to overindulge at the social. Maybe a couple of pieces of keto bread with peanut butter?

D: not sure since we'll be at the social. Someone always brings a fruit or vegetable tray, so I'll fill my plate with that kind of stuff and just sample a couple of desserts (well, that's always the plan - and I unfortunately don't always stick to it...)

this is my 17-year-old cat who has recently re-discovered his ability to get up on top of our refrigerators (kitchen and basement one) after about five years of not doing it. I'm amazed at his agility at his age. Last night was a huge pain, though - he got up into this cabinet and then would NOT come out. Every time we tried, he went from there into the other cabinets (they're original to the house (built in the 1950s) and are all connected. The cats get up there and walk from one side of the kitchen to the other via the tops of the cabinets (i.e. a space above the top shelves - it's not really accessible to humans - but we can see the bottom half of the cats while they're up there!). Not sure if he was trying to avoid getting his meds, or if he just liked it up there and didn't want to come out! (this photo reminds me that I need to finish changing out the pulls!)

Good morning! 20 degrees warmer to start the day. Love that. Work is really slammed trying to help get this new contract back up to speed. The sites have been unsupported since October 1, so everyone is clamoring for everything. Making the day fly by. Tonight, we have fun, fancy dinner at a great steak house with friends. I get to glam up a bit and I am looking forward to it! Not much on our agenda until Sunday afternoon, but I really HAVE to address a menu and grocery shopping for next week. My dad is arriving early in the week, and I love to feed him, and I get to make Christmas Eve and Christmas day dinners. I have a roast ordered and a turkey ordered...wonder if the rest of the family is up for only protein for dinner?

QoTD: We have porcelain tile throughout that looks and feels like beach wood.

Menu:

B: P3

L: beef jerky and Quest protein chips

D: a bit of this app and a bit of that...and a bite of my husband's steak, followed up with butter cake bite at the end! Oh, and I've been very well behaved this week, so an Old Fashioned at ****tail hour and a glass of wine to sip through out the meal. Just keeping it real.

Pictures are of our trip to the Getty! The Gardens, the local deer that hangout on the property and the photo of the ocean and the 101 which were literally less then 50 yards from where the deer where hanging out.

QOTD- Awful carpet throughout this condo, and vinyl in the kitchen and bathroom. In my last house I pulled all of the carpets and replaced them with laminate floor. I would love to do that here but I no longer have my tools or a garage to work in. This condo was built in 2018 and the carpet was not stretched properly so there are lumps and trip hazards all over. My allergies improved immensely without the carpet. I'm not sure how long I'll stay here so I don't know if I want to invest any money in replacing the floor. I had thought to possibly do the living room, dining room and hallway that might be more affordable.

Not much going on here, I got the fabric from my Mom but it isn't stretch either so I'll have to go to the fabric store this weekend.

My NP from the bariatric practice- I followed her from my original surgeon to a new practice and now she is gone. I needed a refill of my omeprazole and got no response to my email and finally called. So I have a telehealth appointment today with a new person, he's a PA and I'm hoping he's OK.

I need to get to work.

Have a great day everyone!

Do you use Rx for omeprazole? My insurance doesn't want t pay for anything that is OTC.

G'morning all!

QJB - nothing worse than being on vacation and being sick. Hopefully it's just a 24 hr bug and nothing more serious.

Presents have not been found but I appreciate your thoughts and positive energy. I was chuckling to myself because on Xmas eve I will open a present from DH that HE doesn't know he has bought for me. I even wrapped it the way he usually wraps.

Here are my handiworks for DD. One is a balaclava, the other is a turtle neck hoodie that can be used as a mask, not against COVID, but against cold. I tried to make them in colors that would go with her coats. She has a camel color and a brown one. Keeping my fingers crossed she will like them.

QOTD: we have it all. Hard wood floor in the hall way, craft room and kitchen. Carpet (that needs to be changed) in all the rooms and living room. Rug in hallway, living room and office. Tiles in bathrooms, and my personal favorite; river rock in master bath.

My meals yesterday:

  • B: protein coffee
  • L: chomp stick + hb eggs
  • S: Fage yogurt
  • D: left over crockpot turkey chili
  • E: 5 miles neighborhood wog

Happy Fri-yay!
