Oh, a mat class is where we do Pilates on the floor on a mat instead of on the reformer or chair. I like the reformer and chair best because you can adjust the resistance to be more or less so it's body weight + but the Matt classes are only body weight.

"I read once that there's no 24-hour flu, it's all variations of food poisoning".

Actually norovirus is not really a food poisoning issue. And in some people norovirus can last a week, or a much longer.

I do agree with you that "the 24 hr bug" is often food poisonings. And the body would try to get stuff out of the digestive system as fast as possible, using both ends, plus nausea, and prevent more food coming in (throwing up) when the system still detects the bacteria or toxins in the intestines, or blood stream.

And I read that the reason some us would throw up when we see others do that in front of us, was from time when "the clan" would eat some food that was bad, and all of them eat the same thing, when on person would start throwing up, the reflex was for others to do the same as a survival instinct. Getting rid of the "eaten poisoned food".

I visited the Biltmore house in the late 1980s. So long ago. It is a very impressive "house". I dont remember any of the history that you wrote about. I would love to go again now that I am older and would appreciate the history more.

I have a house with beautiful hardwood floors everywhere. The bathrooms have tile floors. A few years back, I had carpet installed in the living room family room, and bedroooms. It is a shame to cover up the floors, but Ohio is so cold in the winter and as I get older I feel the cold more. I live alone and worried about slipping and falling on the bare wood floors or tripping over an area rug.

I made the decision to go with the wall to wall carpet after a bad fall one night. I set the robot vacuum for twice a day and run the big vacuum a few times a month. For me, the carpet makes the floors warm, not slippery, and a soft place to land if I did fall. I did love the clean feel of just having to run a dust mop over the wood floors. The guy who installed the carpet told me that he sees older people make the same decision about covering the hardwood with carpet for the same reasons I did.

Good morning, everybody!

Marilyn and my son made it home at about 8:00 last night. My son drove most of the way home, which was a relief for Marilyn. I think that he is excited to be through with a tough semester because he was ready to drive straight to Chicago on Wednesday night when he picked up Marilyn. Anyways, he gets to bid farewell to the Chemistry and Physics departments, for which he is grateful.

I woke up at 4:30 and could not fall back to sleep. Of course, now I am exhausted. And our cleaning lady is here, so I can't fall asleep on the couch. I may head back to bed, but that never works.

We had the best ices at the Christmas party I went to last Saturday. Nothing beats a big ice to keep beverages cold. I have a few large ice makers, but its not like a tray where you can whip off like 24 at a time. But these ladies had bags and bags of big ices. Probably 100 big ices in two different size spheres (supposedly there were also a few large square ices, but I never saw them). I guess that once they decided to have a party the group of them commenced to making big ices and over a month they gathered them together in little baggies and scurried them over to the hostess' house. Having never had more than three big ices in my freezer at one time, I am quite jealous.

In any case, what could be a better life for a big ice than to be cradled in a martini glass, engulfed in pomengrenate and vodka, and held by a lovely tennis lady in a sparkly holiday dress?

This weekend should be pretty low key. I am not doing the informal meet tomorrow because I'm still getting over this cold. I need to finish my Christmas shopping. But that's about it.

QOTD: Mostly wood with area rugs. Tile in the bathrooms. Our finished basement (where the Hansen Brothers picture hangs) has carpet.

Breakfast: Protein bar

Lunch: Turkey sandwich

Dinner: Hello Fresh

Have a great day, all!

Awwww. I love this "In any case, what could be a better life for a big ice than to be cradled in a martini glass, engulfed in pomengrenate and vodka, and held by a lovely tennis lady in a sparkly holiday dress?"

We usually have 6 big ice going in our freezer at any given time. All are round, unless we preplan and put in the square ones!
