Good morning, everybody!

JB, the only thing you have to do is pick up your final paycheck Friday. And even that is probably direct deposited.

Quick hitter today, I have a sleep doctor's appointment. Very tempted to just blow it off and (ironically) go back to bed. I have this and an ultrasound next week and then I am finished with the medical system for 2021.

The boys never responded to the group text, so we just made the decision to let them stay in Chicago. We got our game tickets and brunch reservations for Sunday. Somewhat unsurprising that the big name restaurants are booked for New Years, but the place we are going looks good.

QOTD: I speak in front of groups at work quite a bit, but I am comfortable doing it. Wasn't always that way.

Breakfast: Protein Bar

Lunch: TBD

Dinner: Supposed to go to a work function at this bowling place (May bail)

Have a great day, all!

Mornin' All!

Eating wasn't good yesterday - bummer since I have two luncheons at the end of the week, and it's hard to stay completely on track when faced with one of those. I just have to do what I can to avoid overdoing it at them, and then eat lightly (or at least according to plan) the rest of the week. Anyway, we were at a Mexican restaurant last night, and I ordered two street tacos, which are usually pretty easy to work into my plan. But I had some awful reflux, which went through the roof when I helped myself to a few tortilla chips and salsa (might have been the acid in the salsa). Ate barely half a taco when I was in the bathroom throwing up. Gave the rest of the taco to DH - and brought the second one home (he'll be taking that one for lunch today). After three bouts in the bathroom, the feeling went away, so I had a huge piece of b-day cake at my MIL's later (because, you know, I'd "skipped" dinner). Then I had a bunch of the leftover tortilla chips when we got home (I'd put them in the box with the taco I brought home). And some Greek yogurt because I felt like I needed the protein. So...ugh. Not happy with myself. Today I'm meeting a friend at another taco place, but I should be OK as long as I STICK TO THE DAMN PLAN.

I'm also going to a Zumba class this morning at the gym, and a senior weight training class at a another branch of the gym afterward. This Zumba class may become a regular thing. Since it's in the morning, there are a lot of seniors in there, so I'm not the only one doing low-impact versions of some of the routines (i.e., not a lot of jumping (like jumping jacks) - too hard on the joints). Also, it's only 45 minutes long - much better than 60, especially since I start getting tired after about 30-45 minutes of cardio dancing. So this is perfect.

QOTD: Public speaking doesn't make me nervous, but I'm not the most articulate person in the world (moreso lately - I notice myself searching for words more lately - hopefully just an age-related thing), so I'm happy to have someone else do it if that someone else is available.

B: probably plain skyr with fruit compote (and maybe chia seeds, too). Coffee with half & half.

MS: protein shake

L: two street tacos

AS: protein muffin? Or else Greek yogurt with raspberries and a skinny bagel with light cream cheese

D: DH is going into the office today and probably won't be home until 7:00, so I may just have a chickpea/miso sandwich (I can't wait until 7:00 to eat or I'll overdo it!!)

have a great day, everyone!

Good morning! Yesterday's drive home took 1 hour and 40 minutes. Versus my usual 45 minutes home (22 to get to work, but I leave way before the sun is rising****pt the mantra in my head that someone was having a way worse day than me, which caused the terrible traffic, so I could live with being stuck in the car an extra hour. But I was worn a bit thin by the time I got home and had to move directly to making dinner. I made good choices for dinner, but I definitely tucked in a couple too many bites and was not comfortable for a while. When will I learn that I could always go back and get more if I truly need it? I'd say I am successful 70% of the time starting with a smaller serving and never going back. But last night my eyes were bigger than my belly and I paid for it. On to a new day today. Still covering three desks, so I'll be busy. Eyes on the four day weekend prize!

QoTD: I'm not great at it, and I have to work to overcome my apprehension. But if I am speaking about something I am passionate about, either work or the Foundation, I do pretty well. No one is going to hire me for public speaking, but my true passion for the project really does come through. And I officiated at the wedding of a dear friend. That was stressful, but we ended on a very successful Mazel Tov!

Menu: Ok -- for 755 days I posted my food on MFP. And on one day in Cabo, I forgot. Completely. And I didn't get fat overnight. So I think I am going to go for trying to do a menu, and keep to it, but only use MFP for a few weeks to record my weekly weigh in. I don't know if my daily accountability to MFP has helped keep me in line. I do know that I never go back and reference what I ate, and I am always 100% honest about what I put in my mouth (Old Fashioned' s, I'm looking at you) So I am going to go with honesty in my head and balance with logic and see if I can continue to be realistically successful. I also may reach out to an old friend who is a registered dietician. She hates that I count calories. I might ask her for ideas for planning and eating.

B: last maui rib and a bit of cottage cheese

L: left over taco innerds and 5 little chicharrons

D: pork chop, salad, and a couple bites of the stuffing I am making for the hubs. So that means a pat of butter too.

Peace Everyone!

I quit recording my food a few years ago. That was part of my "diet" mentality and it was really OCD. I obsessed over it and feel a lot healthier when I don't track my food. So many years of dieting and recording everything, when I was cleaning to move I found some of my old records and it just made me cry. All of those years of living on so few calories, really not healthy.

I have not kept a food diary since surgery. I do my menus here and see how close I can stick to it. I do weigh myself every day and use that to keep me in check. I believe you'll do fine. Good luck.

QOTD- Didn't get into public speaking until college. I competed for 3 years and went to a national competition. The instructor tricked us he said if you join the speech team you don't need to come to class any more. So I bit, and I loved it. My best was persuasion and my absolute worst was improvisation. I enjoyed it and had the trophies to show for it, but sadly when I moved they all went in the trash, my horse ribbons and trophies too. I don't need them to know that I did win.

Feeling a bit better today, no torrential rains last night so I slept.

QJB I don't know what to tell you about the alarm cat. Mine was doing that nightly. He was still on west coast time and thought that I should be feeding him at 1AM. Now he let's me sleep until about 3 and I pretend like I'm going to feed him and shut the door on him, so I can usually pretend like I'm getting another hour of sleep, because mostly I don't get back to sleep.

Have a great day everyone!

Mernin' happy Taco Tuesday y'all!

QOTD - Although I don't like talking in front of crowds, I happen to be good at it. I really am one of those people who crack jokes easily, I can pick up on cues and make others feel at ease and I simply flow through the material with no problem. I also have been in Toastmasters for years so that helps. Libra here.

I am making a commitment to be totally honest in my daily menu so here goes. I will come back and update it as things come up. This is REALLY hard but I have to be honest with myself.

Breakfast- oat milk latte and a dingdong.

Lunch - Black bean tamales, calabacita soup, and salsa

Dinner - leftover vegan spaghetti and mixed veggies

Snack - baked bbq chips and frozen semi-sweet chips

I put the snack in there because I know it's gonna happen.

I hope you all have a great day!

Christina

When we had to give a report in grade school, I always volunteered to go first. Because I figured the other kids would be too worried about their report to pay much attention to mine. Then I sat back and enjoyed everyone else's.

I remember having to stand up and give a speech at church a few times and my knees would be shaking. One speech teacher advised us to press our thumbs and forefingers together to relax our hands and keep them from trembling.

I used to belong to Toastmasters, a public speaking club. It was a great experience with people of all ages and backgrounds. I was the first at work to discover Powerpoint and my first Powerpoint presentation blew them away. After that everyone's presentation had Powerpoint slides.

G'morning all!

Jim, you're gonna love this. We had been asking DS for a Xmas list since thanksgiving. You know the not answering to texts? Well, he finally answered yesterday with a looooong list of stuff he wants. But the joke is on him. Most places are either sold out or can't guarantee Xmas delivery. DH was fretting about it but I had the devilish laughter (mwahaha) because maybe this way DS will learn to respond to things on time. He will have some presents but not all he wanted and that's very good.

QOTD: If I know my material I can talk for hours and I'm not intimidated by the crowd. But I can't improvise. I wish we had debate teams growing up, I would have joined in a heartbeat.

My meals yesterday:

  • B: protein coffee
  • L: ground turkey + Mex cauliflower rice
  • S: Fage yogurt
  • D: hb eggs + tuna pouch
  • E: 4.5 miles jog

Happy taco Tue!
