actually, good news on that front! DH took her to the ER yesterday morning. They were able to do the CT scan, and the (bowel) issue turned out to be very minor - they weren't concerned at all and told her to just increase her daily Miralax to prevent any "blockages". She was so relieved - and so mad at herself that she's barricaded herself in her apt the last month because she was so worried about having to have another surgery. So she's joined the living again!

That is great news!

Good morning everyone and happy Monday. I am not feeling very festive or in the Christmas spirit. I put the tree up on Thanksgiving, but it is still standing in the dining room with no decorations. Maybe I will go in the basement today and bring up the totes of decorations.
QJB- Yeah to 5 more days!!
QOTD- I never was heavy as a child. I was always told that I was the big sister, the fat one. I look back at pictures and I was actually thin. I was bigger than my sister, but she was like a size 0. I didn't start to gain weight until after high school. I remember visiting my grandmother in California and she saw me and started to cry. I had gone from a size 10 to a 20. She cried because she didn't want me to be fat like her. She died at 67 from a stroke. She battled her weight her whole life, had weight loss surgery twice. She at one time was 500 plus pounds. I know she would be proud of me. This QOTD got me right in the feels.
Food plan for today-
Lots of water and hot tea
Egg bites ( I gave my son my microwave and discovered they are really good cooked in the air fryer)
Tuna with lots of spicy pickles and onion
Fish and asparagus
Have a great day and be kind to yourself, remember how far you have come!
Good morning, everybody:
Baylor beat Oklahoma State on a last second defensive stand, so we are going to the Sugar Bowl. We booked our flights and hotel last night and need to get our tickets today. What is the holdup, you ask? Why it's getting the boys to reply to a group text, of course.
I think that they don't want to go to the game because they don't really like football. And it would be easier and cheaper for them to stay home. Plus we have limited hotel space. But I don't want to exclude them from the invitation in the off chance they would feel left out. Most likely they are having somewhat similar thoughts and are trying to think of a way to tell us they are not interested, without hurting our feelings.
In any case DD is fretting about where we are going to sit and whether she can share her hotel room with friends, so hopefully we can work it out this morning.
Because of scheduling conflicts (DD has a wedding on new Year's Eve and DS has plans with friends), we are going to be a bit like the teatotalling Baylor Baptists with $20 in their wallet that are the nightmares of convention bureaus and tourism boards throughout the country. We get into New Orleans on the first at about noontime, the game is 7:30 that night and we fly back to Chicago at 3:00 on the second.
Plus, who goes to Bourbon Street with their children? Awkward.
What we are going to do hopefully is get to an early dinner on Saturday and a brunch on Sunday. Please let me know if you have recommendations! Commander's Palace looked good on the website.
QOTD: I was more of an oversize child than fluffy. When I look at old pictures, I am surprised that I didn't end up with more height than the 6 foot 1 that I peaked at.
Breakfast: Protein Bar
Lunch: Hello Fresh
Dinner: TBD
Have a great day, all!

Commander's Palace is a great choice....but Breakfast at Brennan's is iconic. I refuse to eat turtle soup. Thank goodness there were lots of other options and ending the brunch with Banana's Foster and a copy of the cookbook rounded our bill up to a good contribution towards keeping the economy chugging forward.
