What's on your Saturday menu?
on 11/27/21 3:15 am - Amarillo, TX
Good morning everyone! I hope your weekend is going fantastically!
My Thanksgiving went ok...way to much food and an episode of dumping during the night. I got pissed at some other stuff but I've let it go already. I just wish my brother and his entire family were a little more helpful. I'll leave it at that! I think next year we're going to do a table of appetizers. In other news I waiting until yesterday to make the bacon covered turkey breast roast. Holy cow was it good! It kept the turkey so moist and tender. Bacon Wrapped Dijon Roast Turkey Breast I used the brown sugar bacon...it would of been even better with peppered bacon.
No big plans for the day. I had saved a little bit of money for a cricut explore 2 and they had a great deal at Michaels! They also had all the accessories and stuff 40% off. Soooo I got it! I so so love it! It's something I can do right now. I tried to chainmaille last week and it was a big huge fail. Hopefully I'll be able to do it again soon. My first big project was a gnome shirt for my mom. Not perfect but she liked it, I know what do to better now. I'm going to do a Cheshire cat shirt for me with the "We are all mad here". I just need to get the shirt. I'm also going to do a few shirts for my brother with Star Wars stuff for his birthday. It is so much fun!
QOTD: what is one thing, activity or subject that sets you off to the deep end of passionate responses?
For me it could be two things.
Seriousness wise it'd be racial justice and equality. I get so passionate about it. I live in a rather...umm racist place. I've found flyers for the KKK in our yard with candy in it for the kids of a household(it said so...). I contacted the news places and such to tell them this BS was going down. Only one place mentioned it. Gawd I got heated.p and still do. It's one of those things that's gets me heated and you'd better not mess with me in that state.
otherwise it's crafts...I'm a craftaholic foooooor sure. I love making things and I'm pretty good at most things. I hated knitting though esp cable knitting...loved crochet, book making and so much more.
Food is up in the air. I've had a cup of coffee so far.
Breakfast will be JUST egg, cheese and maybe another cup of coffee
lunch will be the turkey breast with bacon and maybe the rest of the Brussels sprouts

We had two family get togethers this summer. Fourth of July and Labor Day picnics. Thanksgiving was our first indoor dinner in several years. It was great, except yesterday morning my brother-in-law woke up not feeling well and his rapi COVID test was positive. Now I am waiting a week to get COVID tested again. It is really giving me second thoughts about having Christmas Eve at my house this year. Life is not really back to normal at all.
My biggest passion was always social justice. I still remember one of the nuns who always yelled at a certain boy in my class just because she really did not like him or his family. I lose it when people are treated unfairly. I have gone to the highest ranks in large corporations when a person was let go and it was not fair. Two people were hired back after I intervened.
My husband and his brother were always having falling outs. I felt my husband was too sensitive and needed to be more forgiving of his brother. But within a month after my husband passed away, I got so upset with this brother, that I put him out of my life entirely. Some people are just too toxic to be involved with. I am civil when I see him in public, but it would not surprise me to find he has a KKK outfit ready to use.
The circut will be so much fun. I can't wait to see pictures.

Thanks. He was in the living room watching football the whole time I was at his house and I just waved to him and the other men out there. I am going to be a bit worried until I get a test done. I have been feeling pretty confident since I got my booster in September, but it looks like the virus is going to get worse again.

Bueno dias!! Having a fabulous time in Cabo with "the kids". Nobody is young anymore. Last night we went to fancy dinner next to the ocean. Food was amazing and the company was better. It started raining so we all came back and got in the jacuzzi in the warm rain. Hard to find a thing to complain about today. Feeling very blessed. Exempt for the damn mosquito bite on my ankle. Ouch! Lol.
QoTD: men treating women poorly. And I mean like mean demeaning women in front of me or saying crap like "My sandwich isn't cut in half" or Get me the remote control ". I will tell you where to put your remote control. The sexiest thing about a man is watching him treat his mate well.
Food today is going to be a challenge again. The food is incredible here so far. I know I get bacon and an egg for breakfast and we'll go from there. I can't even imagine what last night's dinner added up to. I'm just happy it was a tasting menu, so all small bites.
Peace Everyone!

Mornin' Weekenders!
I had two not-so-great eating days (not horrible blow-outs - but way too many calories for me), so I desperately need to get back on track before this gets out of control. I feel miserable and I do NOT want to put on any weight over the holidays! If I just maintain, fine - but I don't want to put on any more as I'm already a couple of lbs over my "oh crap" level.
we went to see "Julia" yesterday and loved it. Highly recommended, even if you don't like cooking.
today's agenda includes coffee with a couple of friends this morning and a trip to the gym sometime today to do weights and cardio. I need to re-think the weight program the fitness trainer gave me because my arthritic hip has been really bothering me the last couple of weeks. I think a couple of these exercises are too much for it - so I need to think of some alternatives, at least for the ones I think might be overworking my hip. I don't need to damage it any more than it already is. I'm sure this fitness guy knows a lot about fitness - but then, he's not a physical therapist who's used to working with people with bad joints (or whatever).
QOTD: I am rabidly pro-choice and my blood pressure goes through the roof every time I read about some state that's proposing (or passing) legislation to limit or get rid of abortion (I apologize because I try not to get political on here, but you asked...and I'm passionate about that issue)
B: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote. Coffee with half & half.
MS: I'll be at the coffee place. Either more coffee (with half & half) or a latte with SF syrup.
L: one of those breakfast sandwiches made with egg whites and turkey sausage (either Jimmy Dean's or Real Good)
AS: protein shake, maybe a protein muffin, too
D: Thanksgiving leftovers
have a great day, everyone!
