What's on your Saturday menu?
on 10/30/21 3:35 am - Amarillo, TX
Good mornin everyone. Hope you're all doing well.
Yesterday sucked pain wise. The worst it's been in a long time. I'm really exhausted.
No big plans for the day. Tomorrow the kids will be over for Halloween of course. My mom has a loot bag for each of them. She also did a small treat bag for the little ones across the street and next door. I may clean a little bit..vacuum and maybe the bathroom.
QOTD: What's your favorite healthy snack? I'm looking for ideas!
Right now it's zero sugar jerky for me.
B: JUST egg, cheese, chicken sausage and coffee
L: 3oz shredded chicken, 1 tbs BBQ sauce and half a GF pita
D: leftover soup, sour cream and a pinch of cheese
S: ???
Mel
Morn' everyone,
Thanks for getting us started Melody.
I can totally emphasize with yesterday being a bad pain day. Twisting and turning for x-rays really didn't agree with me and all the rain didn't help. I pushed myself to go to a Halloween party last night and am glad I did. Although, I'm feeling the increased pain today, as a result of it and the other things I did yesterday. I'm looking forward to another busy day today with getting together with my family.
I got to see some really fun costumes last night. Today, I hope to time it correctly to catch some trick or treaters by my mom's neighborhood in the suburbs.
Small victory - Didn't end up trying the cheese and sausage off a slice of pizza at the party last night like I was previously pondering. There was plenty of temptation though with the smell of pizza wafting through the room and cauldrons of candy everywhere.
QOTD: Light String cheese
B: Oikos Triple Zero strawberry yogurt and a small banana
L: Tuna Poké and asparagus
D: Chicken salad and broccoli
S: Turkey Jerky - just two lonely pieces left in the bag
Have a great Saturday everyone!

Mornin' Weekenders!
I have to take my mom to get her Moderna booster this afternoon, and then we're having a joint birthday party for her and my niece - probably take-out pizza and of course, cake. So another potential minefield of a day. At least there's nothing else coming up for awhile. Other than that, I need to go to the gym to lift weights. I also need to do cardio since I skipped two days in a row (rare for me) - it's supposed to be in the high 50s later today and it's really sunny, so I may get out on my bike for an hour or two.
my annual exam went well and my doctor was fine with my weight, even though I was at the high end of my range yesterday (of course! It's one of Murphy's laws, I think) which made me eight lbs overweight (on an average day, I'm five lbs overweight). She said she's fine with her older adults being up to a 27 BMI as long as they're healthy otherwise, and I'm well within that - even at my highest. But still, I'd like to lose a few lbs, as usual. Although you'd think that desire would motivate me to STOP EATING SO MUCH SO I'D ACTUALLY LOSE IT!!
QOTD: my favorite evening snack (although I'm more a late afternoon snacker than an evening snacker) is taking one of those really low-cal Greek yogurts (like L&F or Carbmaster) - vanilla flavor - and stirring in about 1/2 T of unsweetened cocoa powder, and then topping it with a couple tablespoons of light or sugar free Cool Whip and tossing a few raspberries on top. Ta da! A little sundae!
B: plain skyr with apple compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake (or probably a protein iced latte made with Fairlife, 1/2 scoop of protein powder, and SF syrup)
L: either a miso/chickpea sandwich or some cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote
AS: protein muffin
D: a slice of pizza (if that's what we have tonight) and a small piece of cake
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning! Errands today and nothing else. I want to rearrange the living room furniture. (This make my husband crazy and endlessly amuses me) and I need to start crafting a gift certificate for the hub's birthday for golf lessons. I have no idea what kind he wants, who he would like to hire, where he wants to go...so a little Cricut magic should do the trick.
QoTD: I love 1 oz Tillamook sugar free jerky and 1/2 serving Whisps. It's pretty much nirvana for my tummy. The perfect amount of full. But on the idea end of things, Mel, I also have Quest Protein Chips which I will eat with a little plain low fat sour cream, 5 strawberries and 1 ounce of goat cheese, and I microwave turkey pepperoni for a minute, 16 slices is one serving, and then add a little chunk of parmesan cheese and microwave for 30-60 seconds more. Little mini Italian nachos! (Don't yell at me Sheila, I know that turkey pepperoni would probably be a sin to call Italian!) All these options are about 120-200 calories for the snack.
Menu today:
B: Jimmy Dean light egg which
L: probably out -- so the insides of something
D: need to cook this chicken. I made a soy/miso/butter glaze for it, so I'll add cauliflower rice for me, and real rice for the hubs.
S: I'm hoping to not need -- but if so, see above!
Peace Everyone!

Good morning ~ GREAT meme, lol! I hope your pain eases up as the day goes on, Mel. I had a fabulous day at the spa with my sister. It was quite luxurious and relaxing - great day! We had massages and facials - never had a facial before, my skin feels like butter! I slept really hard last night and I'm still tired. It's pretty ridiculous to say that I'm exhausted from my spa day but it may be all the champagne and wine.
Today is chill, taking the dogs to the park, grocery shopping, count down to Halloween so movies to watch and football. Hopefully a nap!
QOTD - my go to snacks are jerky, cheese, veggies with Greek yogurt/ranch dip and almonds
B- coffee, eggs
l-chicken and salad
d- cheese burger salad
s-almonds, pepperoni
Have a great weekend!!
