Good morning! Today is my second surgiversary, so I wanted to put down in writing my successes. I've never said a word about my weight loss journey on social media -- and rarely talk to people about it in person, so this is my safe place to crow a little bit.
I'm 59 years young and 5' 3.5" tall. I started this journey at 200 pounds after years of trying every diet and pill I could. My BMI was 35 and I squeaked by qualifying for surgery because I am blessed to have a very generous insurance (thank you Elevator Industry Union!) and a couple of co-morbidities. I was in pain all the time because of my destroyed ankles, and sweaty and itchy and miserable. I got really sick in August of 2019 with Gastritis and that really started the ball rolling. I had surgery on October 29 at 177 pounds and a 33.5 BMI. I set my goal weight for 145 pounds. I joined this site and after 6 months started participating. I updated my goal weight to 125. My doctor was ok with my update, but told me she didn't think I would make that far. My low weight since surgery was 103.5 pounds and today, I weigh 112. My BMI is 19.6. It hasn't been easy every day -- but it has been worth it. I no longer have ankle or back pain (sorry Melody!) and am so much more active. I love the energy I wake up with, and I love how putting a good quality, dense protein meal into me feels powering my body. I snack a bit now, which I did not do for the first year and a half at all --and everyone knows I love a glass of wine. Life is pretty damn good and comfy right now. I'm hoping to not gain much more this year, but as long as I am making almost all good choices, I can live with a little bit of regain. My before...and today. I'm pretty proud of myself.
I have no plans for the weekend except to take a bottle of wine to the neighbors tonight we bought for them and sit on the front porch and catch up. And then Sunday evening, celebrate my granddaughter's 10th birthday and trick or treating. So many little trick or treaters on our street. Always a great time.
Menu:
B: hb egg, 1/3 c cottage cheese
L: left over salisbury steak, and more edamame spaghetti with caccio di peppi sauce. (Edamame spaghetti is so filling and really sticks around for fullness for hours!)
D: chicken with soy miso glaze, rice and veggie
S: I'm saving my calories today for a glass of wine with the neighbors!
Peace Everyone!

Happy surgiversary!
Having met you in person, I would have never thought you were 59 years young. You look like you are in your 40s and very fit.
