What's on your Monday Menu?
That's right, especially when the waiter was trying to take away the dessert BEFORE we had finished them. I was ready to fight him.

Hello my RnY kindred! It's been quite a while since I last posted, but I think of you guys all the time, and frequently check to see what you're up to even if I don't post.
It's gotten a bit nippy up here in Seattle, with a few nights and mornings dipping down into the 30s! Today's range is 45-55, brisk enough for boots and cashmere sweaters, etc. - my favorite clothes! I have officially had to stop buying myself boots, as I now have enough pairs to last (with plenty of variety) for the next 30 years. I'm not exaggerating. I do love them though!
My front steps (a wide, steep flight of 12) are full of pumpkins! Big orange ones mostly, but also two big, very witchy, turban-shaped heirloom specimens. In a few days I will carve at least a couple of them. I love Halloween decorating!
I'm doing well. Today's weight is 127.0. I have been ranging between 125-129 for the past several months, and though I do wish I could selectively add a little subcutaneous fat here and there, I'm still just so happy to be where I am weight-wise. Life is good!
I'm an October baby, and I had a wonderful, very fun birthday! We had front row seats to Wilco. It was a fantastic concert, and in all ways a very happy birthday!
My little Siamese Kai (who is also a Libra) turned 20 on October 1! Her sister and litter-mate, Mia, left us in December - we miss her still. Kai had a UTI a about 4 weeks ago, which was awful - she clearly was in a lot of pain. She seems well now, although even 3 weeks after receiving IV antibiotics (a 2-week dose) she had some obviously related trouble. Anyway she just had a ton more bloodwork done, and the good news is that her though she does have kidney disease (very common in elderly cats), her kidney function has actually improved in comparison to the last time she had that gamut of bloodwork done, this past February. I'm still waiting for the results of her last urine culture, which should give more (hopefully reassuring) information. She is very cute and is curled up next to me, snoozing and gently snoring.
Q for you guys: have those of you who eat high protein/low carb seen high creatinine and BUN levels when you last had your bloodwork done? Both of these are a bit high in me, especially the creatinine, and the PCP I've been to up here feels that it would be a good idea for me to have a nephrology consult as a result. I suspect the high-ish numbers are related to my high protein diet. I wish I had a PCP who was personally very familiar with RnY folks and their particular set of needs and problems; this guy is extremely nice but I'm not sure how many bariatric surgery patients he has worked with. At any rate I'm going to go ahead and schedule a visit with a kidney doc; I figure it will at the least be a good idea to get my questions about my bloodwork answered. The good thing is I feel good and strong; still, better to check than not.
I had my flu shot yesterday and my arm is sore! Next I need that Shingrix vaccine, and I will have the Moderna booster as soon as I can. Time for another mammogram too - oh joy, haha!
QOTD: I have both an old set of All-Clad and several beautiful (red!) Le Creuset pieces.
Wishing all of you a beautiful day and wonderful rest of October (my favorite month)!
First: maple blend coffee from TJ's, with a little half-n-half
B: can of tuna with a little nonfat plain Greek yogurt
L: pork tenderloin, with some stewed cherry tomatoes and colorful peppers
D: Salmon
Love to you all,
Cara

Thank you Amy! I think of you often too - you really were incredibly inspirational to me as I was losing. I remember the two photos you posted when you hit the one-year mark (I think) - you were always stunning, but your transformation was just so beautiful. I wish we lived closer!
Hello stranger! So good to see you around here. Wishing you a very happy birthday.
