It is perfectly normal to remain about 20 pounds at the 2 year mark. The only way I get it off and keep it off is with cutting calories.

Why is there not a "don't like" button? LOL. I've earned a bit of it so I am monitoring extra carefully this week and seeing where it all shakes out. And I really would be ok with a bit of weight gain. But not 20 pounds! (said as I am finishing my afternoon snack...)

The small intestine is lined with finger-like appendages called villi. Villi grab the food as it goes past and hold it against the intestine wall so that the calories can be absorbed from it.

After RNY many of the villi are gone or no longer working. Food can go right through and not get absorbed. But the body is smart and repairs and regrows villi so that it is not getting starved anymore. The process usually occurs during the third year after surgery and usually results in a 20 pound gain.

This end of malabsorption is called the bounceback regain period.

Once that malabsorption is gone, the only way to keep the weight down is to not eat more calories than you burn. We do need an unlike button on this board.

Good Morning Queen JB and Menuers,

My weekend started out with a phone call at 5 on Friday to say my hairdressers husband passed away at 8:45 on Thursday evening and I spoke to this person at 7:45 after my hair appointment, I am still very upset about the situation. Obviously it was very unexpected and quick. He was only 70 years old. He just retired and they were just starting to travel a lot more and enjoying life. Here is another example of why we should never put fun off for tomorrow. Please live you life now while we can and as many of us have a new outlook on like due to our new found health take advantage of it please.

The open house we went to that evening helped find a bright spot from the news I learned of. The speaker was I higher up at Franciscan University and that is where DH's dad worked before he passed away. The speaker remembered his dad and said they still have a bench there that honors his father that I was unaware of. As soon as we get a chance were going to take a ride to the campus and see it.

The Italian festival did not disappoint either. I'm gonna say it was a highlight. I had the sangria that they add rye whiskey to and I also had a piece of pizza that is only the 2nd piece of pizza I have had in the last 4 years. I waited for the best it was a Detroit style and well worth it.

My week is super busy with Funeral and I need to make a meal for a family in our church that have covid. Looks like every evening is booked up for now. Hope I can get everything done I need to.

Accountability: My downfall was the weekend in general. Cookies, pizza, shrimp grits, I can go on and on but I know what happened. Back at it today.

I bet it is 30 years since I had Detroit style pizza. That sounds delicious.

G'morning all!

Had a great weekend. On Sat caught up with one group of friends for lunch. On Sun with another group for an afternoon coffee. I baked them a pumpkin bread with chocolate chips. Didn't have regular semi sweet chocolate chips so used espresso chocolate chips. Gotta say it was so much better with that hint of coffee. My friends surprised me with this apron, needless to say I loved it.

QOTD: hmmm, I think I hang out with mostly positive people. I haven'****ched Ted Lasso, so I don't know how upbeat he is, but I try to be with people who are upbeat and positive most of the time. I understand the occasional stress or blue moments, because it's life, but I am one of those people who wants to see the light at the end of tunnel and runs towards that light. It could be a train coming my way but in the mean time at least I am running and doing something.

My meals yesterday

  • B: coffee + barebells bar (ordered two new flavors online; chocolate dough and crunchy fudge)
  • L: chili
  • S: pumpkin chocolate bread
  • D: skipped
  • E: Rest day

Happy start of the week!
