What's on your Tuesday Menu?
JB, I second the personal assistant thing -- but I would hire one for your personal stuff. I did that during one of our last moves when work was crazy and I couldn't juggle fast enough. Found a friend of a friend who was a waitress with lots of open daytimes hours, then negotiated with her to be there for the inspections, carpet install, run around paperwork, phone calls. It probably cost me a total of $500.00 for the month of work, but as MasterCard says, it was priceless!
Be careful running in the garage.

Enjoy the with the Airbnb. Hope your tenting goes quickly. I've never heard of tenting till I got here. Very interesting but sounds so disruptive to life. Hope it goes as quick as Shelia's trip to Italy.

Mornin' All!
well we found out yesterday - after DH had to call 911 to take his mother to the hospital - that she hasn't been taking her anxiety meds for the last month because she was convinced they "didn't work". We had no idea. The EMT's came to the apartment but said they couldn't take her to ER because her mental health "crisis" didn't involve wanting to hurt herself or others. They said it wouldn't do any good because she wouldn't be admitted to the hospital ANYWAY unless she was suicidal (or homicidal) or had an actual medical condition. They said she needed to work through her PCP to get into behavioral health (which is already in the works). They asked her if she was taking meds for the anxiety (since it's a lifelong problem), and that's when she said she does, but she hasn't taken them since her surgery last month. They said she HAS to take them and watched her take one before they left the apt. I am livid. She has totally turned our lives upside down - we've had to cancel so many things so we could deal with her - including our trip to Italy - because she hasn't been taking her meds? You will not believe how pissed off I am. DH still wants to hold off on the trip because it is (or was) two weeks away, and it may take that long for the meds to take full effect so she'll get over this slump - and he wants to make sure she's over this before we go. But she is going to pay every cent in the cancellation/rescheduling penalties. I haven't heard yet what they will be, but I would assume substantial. None for the airline change, but the property owner has a right to keep 100% of our money. Given the situation (they know MIL had emergency surgery and was hospitalized for a week - I'm not telling them this latest development about the meds), and the fact we haven't heard from them yet, it could be that they're waiting to see if they can rent it that week to someone else so they can give us a break and not keep 100% of it, but I'm not sure. I do suspect we'll have a hefty fee regardless- but maybe they're trying to make it so it won't be 100%, because that would be A LOT. But in the end, SHE is paying for it, so it doesn't really matter.
I'm going to bike over to the gym this morning and do weights. I'm taking my mom to an eye appt at 1:00, then afterwards I'm going to meet up with someone who's active on the FB page of my bariatric clinic (she lives in Rockford, IL, but will be up here for a plastic surgery consult and wanted to meet me in person). I also need to finish watching a movie for my documentary film discussion group that meets tomorrow morning - I haven't been able to focus on it because of the MIL situation. Or my classes - I'm woefully behind.
QOTD: as a kid it was art. In junior high and high school, it was foreign languages (I took Spanish, French, and German). In college, it was ...I kid you not...calculus (I thought I hated math and dreaded taking the required calculus courses - but OMG it turned out I LOVED it!!!). Since my 30s, it's been history. I've taken a bizillion history courses since then.
this menu is really incomplete because the afternoon meetup is going to be at some restaurant, and that won't be until 2:00 or 3:00, so this is going to be tricky - but here's a (maybe not very good) stab:
B: Aldi's version of an Egg McMuffin, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L1: protein muffin
L2 (or heavy AS): I don't know where we're going yet, so I have no idea! Some kind of light meal (or appetizer)
D: maybe the microwavable quinoa/chicken dish I never got around to eating yesterday
have a great day, everyone!
