What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
I used to stock up on Altiods mints whenever I was in England. It was nice when they finally started selling them in the US. One day I was craving Starburst candy and kept looking for them in London stores. When I finally found a package the taste was completely different in Europe. The ones in Europe had very little flavoring.
There is a big difference when you buy American candies that were produced in foreign countries. Sometimes the taste is amazing and sometimes disappointing. The people I visited in South America used to ask me to bring them bags of Dove Chocolates.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I always buy bags of them in Duty Free. They do taste better.
Also if you go to the Hershey Store in Hershey park they restock with fresh right off the line product daily and the Twizzlers are so soft and chewy.

Have you tried the Japanese flavors? My friend brought me back a sampler a few years ago and it's crazy--they have hundreds of flavors and they are awesome!
DD is obsessed with Japanese Kit Kat's.

Mornin'!
Bus driver shortage here as well. I think it's pretty much everywhere. They had to stagger some of the starting times of schools to make everything work.
I have to take my mom to a doctor's appt at 10:00, I have one of my film discussion groups at noon, and then my flu shot at 2:00, so I'll probably go to the gym to do weights before I go pick up my mom. Don't know if I'll get any cardio in since I have a few errands to run as well, but then, i've done pretty well with cardio this week, so I should be good.
QOTD: I don't like cheap chocolate, and there aren't many non-chocolate candies that I like, so that knocks out most things. Plus I'm not much of a candy person anyway (although I do eat Spry mints sometimes because of the xylitol - good for my dry mouth and teeth in general...). So I'd say: 1) Lindt truffles 2) SF Werther's (the hard kind) 3) hmmmm...that's about it. I wouldn't necessarily put the Spry mints on the list since I mostly pop some occasionally for the xylitol, rather than because i'm craving them
I don't know what the menu is yet because of the lunch out (film discussion group) - I'm going to have to eat lightly the rest of the day to make up for it. I was going to order the hummus appetizer (with grilled pita), but I calculated calories and protein and I'd be better of ordering the Impossible Burger or a roast turkey club - and eating half of it (which is probably all I could handle of either sandwich *anyway*). So this is my best shot:
B: I think I may eat a heavier than usual (and later than usual) breakfast so I can make it through to the lunch. So maybe a piece of cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with strawberry compote, or a protein muffin (I make jumbo-sized ones and ordinarily eat half of one, but I can do a full one this morning - a little less than 300 kcal, plus lots of fiber and protein). Coffee with half & half
L: either half an Impossible burger of half a roasted turkey club sandwich
AS: skyr with raspberries (??)
D: If I can afford the calories, then leftover indian curry. Otherwise, maybe an Aldi's version of an Egg McMuffin. And maybe some coleslaw with Asian dressing to go with that (i.e., fiber....)
have a great day, everyone!
I'll post a photo in a second
this is one of my cats, Minik. I was looking EVERYWHERE for him yesterday afternoon, and finally spotted him out on the porch enjoying an afternoon nap (unfortunately, he woke up when I took the picture - he looked so cute sleeping there!)

I want to be a cat when I grow up. Minik looks like he is living his best life :)
G'morning all!
It's mid afternoon here. It's so hot that we are in siesta mode. This morning went with my mom to the Friday market. So many memories of my childhood at the Friday market. In US they call it farmers market but growing up was just market, fresh fruit and veggies and so many yummy sandwiches.
Tonight we are going to a restaurant that specializes in chocolate wild boar. I guess it's the italian version of chicken mole. I can't wait to try it.
QOTD:
- hot tamales (I can eat them until my mouth goes raw)
- Brookside dark chocolate açaí
- Brookside dark chocolate pomegranate
Pics are from yesterday when I met with my gfs for lunch. The old pic is from late 80s vs now.
Meals are all over the place but I have kept up with my workouts, so I'm hoping for not too much damage when I get back.
Ciao a tutti!
