What's on your Labor Day menu?
on 9/6/21 5:18 am - Amarillo, TX
Good mornin everyone and happy Labor Day.
Not much planned for the day. My mom is doing a deep clean of her bedroom. So I'm sure she'll need a bit of help. I might move out the tv stand in my room(it has wheels) and put in the shelf I got yesterday. It doesn't have a tv on it anyway.
I'm feeling so exhausted this morning. I slept better than usual but also slept hard which means my body hurts more than usual.
QOTD: What is one of your pet peeves?
The one at the top of my list at the moment is people who treat retail/food industry workers bad and rudely. I can't stand it.
B: just egg, cheese, chicken sausage and coffee oh also yogurt
S: jerky
L: not decided yet
S: ???
D: ???

Mornin' All!
I took one of our cats to the emergency clinic late yesterday afternoon. She was hiding under one of the beds most of the afternoon and pooped in the middle of the floor - both things she's never done before. We've noticed a couple of inappropriate eliminations earlier in the week (stool both times) - and none of our four cats have ever had issues with that. We'd narrowed it down to either her or our 16-year-old, and assumed it was him due to his age and health issues. But now I'm thinking it was probably her the whole time. Anyway, I got there and called them from the parking lot (as the signs said to do). They said they were packed due to all the vet offices being closed, so they couldn't see her until 1:00 am. At this point, they were only making exceptions for critical cases. So...I took her back home. Then DH came over (he's been staying at his mom's probably 20 hours a day). After about an hour - the kitty came out of hiding and starting eating - and started crawling all over him. I know that hiding and inappropriate elimination can also be due to stress, so now I'm wondering if she's reacting to him being away (??). She was OK for awhile after he left last night, but then went back into hiding. I'll call my vet in the morning in case she thinks there's a chance there's some medical issue going on, but now I'm thinking it may be stress due to DH not being home (she LOVES DH - wherever he is, she is - usually on his lap or lying on top of him)
anyway, sorry for the long story. Not much else going on in my world. I'll go out biking this morning as the weather is perfect for it. And this film festival that I bought a ticket for (or at least the virtual part of it - the in-person festival is in Milwaukee, about a 70 mile drive from here) starts at noon. Most (not all - but most) of the films are available online for those who want to attend virtually, and the virtual tickets were pretty cheap. So I'm going to watch as many films as I can this week. And classes start this week, too - so - I'll be busy!
QOTD: people who are chronically late
B: I'm thinking about making chaffles topped with plain skyr and strawberry compote. Coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: probably the rest of the chickpea/miso spread on 35-calorie bread (with cucumber and tomato slices). Maybe cole slaw made with Asian-style dressing
MS: ?? Maybe a protein muffin. I was stressed yesterday so I made another batch (this one lemon/blueberry) even though I still had a couple of carrot/bran ones left (I used to not like baking very much, but during this pandemic, I seem to have joined the "stress baking" crowd)
D: probably Indian bean curry over roti
have a great day, everyone!
I do think the cat is stressed due to missing your husband. Glad you did not have to pay an emergency vet, who would not have known what the problem was and probably would have just told you that she was fine. Could the cat go with him to MIL? Although that might stress the kitty out too.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Good morning, Happy Monday!
QOTD - I used to have so many pet peeves. I am really trying to let go of them. I think one that has remained is rudeness. I despise people who are rude with no need.
Breakfast - fasting, so hot black coffee and water
Lunch - I'm home today, so tofu scramble (tofu, onions, kale) on corn tortillas
Dinner - salad with smashed potatoes
Snack - fruit smoothie with oat milk and chia
Snack - veggie muffins
I hope you all have a great day!
Christina
Let it begin with me.

Good morning! We had a good day with the grand girls yesterday. Went to see Jungle Cruise. Very fun. Very Disney. Very definitely a Disney park ride coming from that movie. I'd bet big bucks on that. Then we let them come to the house, had charcuterie for dinner and late nigh****er fight. A really good day for all! I blew it at lunch, but reined it in for dinner.
Today I'm dropping them off, running to the craft store and the butcher shop, and then going to come home and replant some pots I have around the house to keep building on the ambiance I am trying to achieve outdoors. I'm trying to make this vision come together without spending much. So I am on a treasure hunt most days.
QoTD: Rude people. Go away, please.
Menu:
B: jerky and whisps
L: left over chicken leg and cauliflower potato salad (So good, so excited!)
D: chicken and feta with broccolini. Need to make extra to take for lunch for my girlfriend in the hospital tomorrow. She's sick to death of the bland, disgusting food she gets there and has no food limitations. So I am all in on finding things she's going to really enjoy. I can't fix her, but I can feed her!
Peace Everyone!

Aloha! I'm actually in Maui. It was a long haul at the end. My movers were 2 hours late and at 4:16 I got an email that the buyers wanted to take possession at 5PM. I thought it was scheduled for the next day, but they made a stink about it and forced me to pay their payment for a day. So I wasn't happy, I worked from 6AM to 1AM the next day. I swept all of the rooms and did the best I could. My roommates room wasn't totally clean but it was the only one, and we had to leave some garbage in bags in the garage. My roommate had to go to work the next day and I had to catch a plane. I got to the motel after 1 and took a shower and attempted to sleep, for all of about an hour. Took an Uber to the airport and made my plane with time to spare. I slept about an hour on the plane, had one woman that didn't want to leave her mask on and I think she was detained at the airport, there is always one.
Note to self do not cry with a mask on, it just doesn't work. I had this moment of wondering what in the world I had done. I was missing my horse and cat and feeling like I'd made a huge mistake. I think it was just exhaustion and on Saturday I got up early and went to Wailea to my favorite beach path and remembered why I wanted to be here. It was a lovely 3 mile walk and I was in heaven.
Now the issue with my horse, I was afraid this was going to happen. The girl is not able to really handle him, they can't find a place to move him to and I'm afraid that they will put him down. I've signed him over so I don't own him anymore, and it really breaks my heart. But there isn't anything that I can do. Especially not from here.
I should be able to bring my cat over as soon as I can schedule the exam for here and send the itinerary to the vet. So that is one positive thing, my Mom is keeping him until he can come here.
I put an offer in on a condo before I left and they accepted my offer and it should close around 10/3 so I will have a place to call home but no furniture for a few weeks. But I will have a home for my cat!
Sad to say I've been here 3 days and yet to go to the beach, it's right across the road. I'll go this afternoon.
I got on the scale here, it's an old one and I'm not sure how accurate but it said 170 which is good because I've been hovering around 175+ for a while. Moving is a lot of exercise...
I'll take some pictures and try to post them on Friday.
Have a great day everyone!

Julia,
I was thinking about you the other day. Congrats on the big move. I am so sorry about your horse.
