so was it the facilities that wouldn't let them leave - or the families just dumped them there and didn't pick them up? It sounds like it might have been the latter. And yes - when my father was in a nursing home at the end of his life, there were residents there who I don't think their families ever visited. It was like they were just abandoned, too. Very sad situation.

Yes it was largely the families... who are super quick to avail themselves of any assets especially real estate which would allow the ? patient? 2 go home and there get 6 months of round the clock free nursing care mandated by Medicare. ( and insurance covered part time caregiving and visiting nurse care afterwards forever)

But I don?t think the existing laws help ... a patient tries to get out ( and the doors ARE LOCKED and constantly watched ) they?ll just b labeled ( by the facility?s obviously self interested biased psychiatrist) that they?re no longer competent 2 think 4 themselves.

Therefore legally the institution that?s gaining $2000 a Day from them being there makes the decision whether 2 ever let them out .

Notice .... every case ( including mine ) you talked about where they actually came home was there under the 30 day threshold.

After that you?re permanently in their hands ....legally !!! I know ... shockingly and surprisingly most families don?t even want 2 find out ... they just decide 2 write off the person and sell and ? inherit? their assets while they?re still alive , imprisoned and suffering .

Unloving ghouls .

Not my Eastern European culture ( or Asia?s ) ... we value and take care of our elders in our homes forever and enjoy and love their company. This is not the case in the United States from what I?ve seen.

There?s nothing better than the bond and teaching of a caring elder for little ones in my experience...happy , free , accomplished and trustworthy babysitters :) .

I LOVED baking with my great grandmother...learning to garden and graft fruit trees from my grandfather.

My grandmother had the softest arms and a lovely ( homemade perfume ) honey and lavender scent I still feel calmed and cozy by . i loved to nap at her side .
I was the happiest and most coddled and stimulated healthy toddler in their company- and I know they enjoyed me too .

There is a meme where the lady says, I saw someone talking to their dog today. I went home and told my cat about it and we laughed and we laughed.

When I was growing up, our cats lived outside, ate leftover table scraps, and nobody talked to them, expect to tell them to shoo. When I was on my own, I got two Siamese cats and talked to them all the time. And Siamese talk back.

At first, my parents thought that was odd, but then they got inside cats and learned what great companions they can be. I think they have the understanding of about a three year old child. My cat seems to understand everything I say.

My *****hilla and silver-shaded Persians R just th love of my life . Everyone gets on my bed at nite 2 do the purring ( and tv watching r incredible)

Theyll even watch th news ( I won?t ) but they?re enthralled w TV ( which is very interesting) . They?ll paw th TV if there?s a bird on it or a hamster ... they?re definitely paying attention. I have some super- cute videos of them watching the screen and their little heads tracking every movement in sync:)

I don?t think they were bred 2 talk or make any noise ... sometimes there?s some sweet low key chirping. I think th communication of just sitting in my lap kissing my hand is something.

good morning! A nice easy day around here. I have one major chore to accomplish and it's going to include a muscle workout. So either this evening or tomorrow morning I want to bring in the cut wood and restack near the back door. It's way too hot for a fire these days, but it's one more little detail that will put the yards in tip top shape. This stuff is stacked in the driveway and looks like crap. I will have to go up and down stairs probably 20 times while carrying wood. That should count for exercise, right?

We are taking the grandgirls to see Jungle Book today and will have family style lunch before. That's all the plans we've got.

QotD: Definitely my dogs. Then the neighborhood raccoons. I'd love to hear what's in their little brains as they try to carry off our dog food container.

Menu:

B: beef jerky and whisps

L: unsure, but probably the insides of a burger

D: making a charcuterie board to use up stuff from our dinner party on Friday. The grands love it, and it is hot out, so that will be a nice, cool choice with lots of options for me.

S: probably none today!

Peace Everyone!

Just went back 2 th same seven eleven 2 ask some questions.... White Dove is ABSOLUTELY right ....shockingly!

They?re selling drinks as sugarless when they have no supplies and filling it up with sugary whatever !!! The store manager actually admitted it !!!

I told him he was literally killing diabetic and other sugar- vulnerable people. He apologized and gave me another sugary frozen drink for free lol.... which I of course gave away .

Why is there no truth in advertising? I'm just asking to buy what it's labeled for ....sugarless,tasty frozen 2 cool m off on a hot day ....

I am surprised that the manager admitted it to you. It has been going on for years. They advertise sugarless syrups, but really see people sugar. I know a lot of people who dump from that practice. I bought my own shaved ice machine. I use my own sugarfree syrups.

QOTD: I would talk to my dog, I do anyway and she is good at communicating what she wants. She is very vocal with whines and tiny woofs. Second choice would be dolphins. They are many in this area and when you are out in the boat, you can "invite" them to play and if they feel like it, the whole pod will take the free ride in your wake. They get close enough that you can almost touch them. They will swim on their side so that they can watch you with their eye. So cool. I wonder what they are thinking?

Menu. Yogurt, chicken for lunch, fruit popcyicle for snack, maybe pork and cauliflower fried rice for dinner.

Again I managed to get ( and keep) down most of a Chinese lunch special ( shrimp w snow peas extra spicy no oil ) :)

some candied ginger slices .... and a Really bad ha*****ewing and spitting out candy . Filled up a whole cup with those leavings . I very rarely indulge in this so I don?t consider it a problem but it?s GROSS! I think I?m both bored and very frustrated.

I?m performing every nite now with a horny ( and taken) ex boyfriend leading th band ... ugh.

But th band is musically excellent and after many years pretty famous with a great following .

I look at You tube videos I shot( and edited ) fifteen years ago ( when we barely had th munny 2 rent a camera ! ) and say wow .... we were and R really good .

I guess I just hav 2 suck it up , grow up and appreciate what I got ( a chance to tour most of Northern Europe soon and get paid ) . Maybe one day I?ll meet a worthy guy I like ( sure lol)
