What's on your Saturday menu?
on 9/4/21 1:21 am - Amarillo, TX
Good mornin everyone. Hope that your weekend is starting off well. For many of us it's a three day weekend.
Let me just say it...yesterday was horrible. My pain levels were through the roof. It felt like someone was sending jolts down my left leg at the hip down. Not a fan of it. Still in a lot of pain.
Does anyone here have an adjustable bed? I am considering saving up for one. I just don't know. I would be able to get one tax free but I know the bases are pricey. I get the rest of my back payment next month so we'll see. I would also need to get a different mattress. I need to go to a furniture store and check them out. Maybe I could qualify for payment plans...
QOTD: What is the dumbest way you've been injured?
I once broke my foot by dropping a frozen whole brisket on it. I still feel the arthritis from it in the winter and during pressure changes.
B: 3 tbs JUST egg, 2 tbs shredded cheese, 2 chicken sausages and coffee
S: 1 tbs PB and 1/2 a mango
L: 4 GF fist sticks, 1/2 cups of Mexican street corn(not much sauce but mostly veggies) and a chai tea somewhere along the way
S: L&F yogurt
D: chicken breast meat and pad Thai riced cauliflower with veggies (something I got from Sam's)
this is a two meme kind of day.

O my gosh Melody you?ve said everything ( very eloquently) I wanted so long 2 posts voice 2
I can?t eat.... literally I can barely stand because I haven?t been able to eat for almost a week . Today I got down ( well half was thrown up ) some 50 percent orange juice a few spoonfuls of fat free cottage cheese and half a piece of pizza . I feel much better but very scared- what will happen 2 m ? I?m on stage tonight and I?m scared ...
Twenty years ago, when my husband was first diagnosed with cancer, I bought him a twin sized Temperpedic bed. It cost something like $2,200 or maybe $2400. I figured it would be much more comfortable than a hospital bed if he would need a hospital bed.
I put it in the guest room. He did not like it, and preferred to sleep on the couch. I believe it was because he felt isolated and would rather be in the living room. Especially during times when he was so sick and weak that he was in bed 24 hours a day.
I ended up sleeping in the guest room, because I loved that bed. I have a beautifully furnished bedroom with a Sleep Number bed. That bed is very much enjoyed by my cat.
I sleep in the smaller bed because I can push a button on the remote and raise my head and or feet and turn on the massage. When I went through GERD, I just needed to raise my head with the remote.
If my legs feel sore and tired, I raise them higher and use more foot massage. The one thing I won't do with mine is use an electric blanket, because the heat would be bad for the memory foam. The memory foam adjusts to your body and is like sleeping on air. The all over massage puts me to sleep in minutes.
I believe you could buy the same bed now for about half what I paid then and it probably has improvements. Sometimes, I do go and sleep on the Sleep Number bed and it is very comfortable, but I always go back to the Temperpedic because it helps so much with restlessness and pain.
I always was willing to invest in the best bed I could find. It is where we spend 1/3 of our lives and for me that makes it a great investment.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Mornin' Weekenders!
I was going to bike over to the gym to do weights this morning, but at 95% humidity, I don't think so. They say there's not a huge chance of rain, but with that much humidity, it's going to be miserable outside. I'll do some kind of cardio here and then drive to the gym to do weights.
My eating hasn't been that great the last couple of days. I haven't been eating junk, but I've been eating too much. Like 300 or so calories over my range. Every day. I'm pretty sure it's the stress (and boredom) of being at my MIL's. I'm going to let DH deal with most of the in-home care for her the next week, because I'm not going to go over there for more than 2-3 hours at a pop. I just can't. And if she's not A LOT better within the next week or so, I'm going to insist we look at other options for her. This is too big of a sacrifice. He's brought up the idea of rescheduling our trip to Italy (in October) because of her. There are reasons I'd reschedule that trip (COVID - or if MIL gets a lot sicker and is at risk of dying), but the current situation is not one of them. There are nursing homes that have short-term options, so she can go to one for a week while we're gone. But honestly, having to be at her apt 24/7 for the next month until we go to Europe is a non-starter. If she's this bad, she really needs to be in a place that's set up for things like this.
OK - rant over. Not much else going on today.
QOTD: can't think of anything off the top of my head
B: plain skyr with 1/2 diced mango, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: protein muffin or miso/chickpea sandwich
AS: yogurt with fruit? Maybe a skinny bagel with light cream cheese, too
D: Indian curry
have a great Saturday, everyone!

Good morning! Beautiful day here. Our dinner on the deck last night was a great success, and we got to end the evening sitting around a campfire where everyone else ate Julian Apple Blackberry pie. A great way to head into the long weekend. We have been up and putting everything back to order this morning and the laundry is done. Heading off to wander the mall here in a bit. Need a few things and want a new shirt for the concert we are going to next weekend. Big plans.
QoTD: falling off or down the stairs. Broke my right ankle once, tore tendons in my left ankle once. Tripped over my own flip flop in a parking lot and face planted and covered myself with road rash. Oh, and plopped down on the end of swimming pool chaise lounge which flipped over and planted me on my head resulting in weeks of therapy and barely being able to move my neck. Mom used to say she should have named me Grace.
Menu:
B: just finished a last portion of chicken fajitas. No tortillas. And damn it was good!
L: we'll be out, so maybe the nice italian place and I'll just eat a meatball
D: "fried" chicken quarter, cauliflower potato salad. My friend made this last week, and it tasted JUST like potato salad!! I'm only going to modify the recipe a tiny bit and use reduced calorie mayo. Lots of bacon sprinkled on top.
Peace Everyone!

I broke my second wrist because I went out rollerblading with a cast on - and an idiot biker ran right into me . I still feel the pain in both wrists every time it rains .... but I still speed skate on super-fast skates in the biking lane so am I any wiser ?
I know why I drink now - I can?t sleep otherwise... and half a beer (which I have a very hard time keeping down ... just doesn?t do the job . Trazodone which my doctor prescribes for me lets me go to sleep for about two hours . It?s Very frustrating!
i actually managed to eat most of a Chinese lunch special . The rice and pasta was left for the raccoons . It took me about four hours but I didn?t throw up and I still have a cheese and bean burrito left 2 eat - probably tomorrow.
I feel SO much better having eaten! I also drank a huge blue raspberry flavor supposedly sugarless slurpee from 7-11 . NOT a good idea - ended up writhing for about twenty minutes. Haven?t done THAT in a LONG time but the sugarlessness and icy cold drink on a hot summer day just looked SO tempting .
