I Feel Like A Failure

Listen to Partlypollyanna. Reach out to your surgical team. Mine is like my family now. I am 3 months out and have lost 37 pounds, which is less than what you read on the internet is 'normal'. But since starting my journey in December with the dietician and psychologist I have lost 91 pounds. My surgeon told me not to weigh but once a month because we will lose inches sometimes and our numbers won't change. How are your clothes fitting? Measure yourself. But most importantly make sure you are following the plan the surgeon set out for you. It's not only for your weight loss but also for healing. Your stomach/pouch are still swollen.
I never lost more than 2-3 pounds a week, even right after surgery. Somewhat frustrating when a friend of mine had surgery after me and lost 30 pounds a month and blew past me. Well, I just kept on the plan (and so did she) and we got to our goal weights. Hang in there - if you are not sticking to the post-surgery plan, contact the office and get some help. Are you going to the monthly support group meetings at your surgeon, or local hospital.
There will be times when it feels impossible to stick to the plan, but you are a science experiment for the 3 months after surgery and it gets better.
