I am full of spite, unless it's an elderly person, if you follow me to my spot, I will take my sweet time or sit there longer; I would probably have automatically done what you did though because it's so odd for someone to be have that way I wouldn't have thought to stay.

I probably would have moved to be polite but then be pissed when I noticed all the other spots.

Related situation: Yesterday a group of 4 men were standing next to my car shooting up and exchanging money. I had to crawl in my car on the passenger side. Once I was in the car I saw a 5th guy laying in the street right in front of my car. He looks at me and says, "sorry"! I was super friendly and said "no problem!" back to him. Then I sat there thinking... it really is a problem. I don't think I should have been so upbeat.

You did the right think. If you try to confront them, they can get violent. Get away as quickly as possible.

Because you're a nice, good person. And you don't have a chip on your shoulder, and you're not compensating with a huge SUV. So it's in your nature to be a decent human, and go on your way. Don't give him or his actions another thought.

I really wasn't looking for confrontation. I was smiling the whole time. I guess if he had smiled back at me I wouldn't have been so peeved.

Exactly!! It's like letting someone over on the freeway. If the smile a "thanks" it's all good but if they give you "the stink eye" I get peeved too.
