What's on your Saturday menu?

Good morning everyone! I hope the weekend finds you doing well.

No big plans for the weekend here. We have decided to stay home as much as possible. The Covid numbers are getting really bad here and there is only 11 ICU beds in our area. Some parts of Tex's had zero. It's scary times. We have a low vaccination rate here. We also happen to have the reddest county in the country(yikes!). I'm scared honestly. Even being vaccinated.

We do have to get out briefly today to go take some stuff to the thrift store which is contactless. We may go to the market Walmart to get some mangoes...and maybe some peaches. I've been craving both something awful. Which is weird for the peaches...usually not my top fruit. So good this time of year. Will only get a couple of each to hit the spot.

QOTD: what fictional character do you think would make a good president/politician?

mine kind of relates to the meme...Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings. I know he kind of was since he was the king but I really love his character in the books and in the movie. My next pick would be Samewise Gamgee. He was the whole reason the fellowship succeeds. Ok my nerd is showing. LOL

B: JUST egg, cheese, chicken sausage and coffee

L: PP shake

D: ???

S: peanut butter and ???

Mornin' Weekenders!

it looks like another beautiful day today! I think we're supposed to have wonderful weather for next several days - high 70s/low 80s, sunny, and low humidity. Perfect! I wish I could get out and bike every day, but I have a small abscess on one of the incisions behind my ear, and I'm a little afraid my helmet is going to rub against it and make it worse. So...I'll have to think of something else to do for exercise. I have an appointment with one of the personal trainers at my gym this week to assess where I'm at and develop a plan, so maybe he'll have some suggestions on things I could try. Other than biking, I get kind of bored doing the same things all the time.

so today I'm meeting my sister and niece for coffee at 11:00, and then I'm having my mother-in-law over for dinner tonight, and hopefully some of my own family members, too. The only reason I'm doing this is that it's part of my plan to get rid of the rest of the mango cheesecake, because I do NOT need to have this thing sitting around, especially after having a tres leches cake in my fridge for a week (just finished that off on Thursday - and then the mango cheesecake started up yesterday, exactly one day later...). So...a dinner party among family should do the trick (if it weren't family, I'd feel weird serving a half-eaten dessert -- but with family, no...)

QOTD: This'll take some thought, and my brain isn't fully engaged yet, so I'll have to come back later to answer this

B: pumpkin & kale protein smoothie, coffee with half & half

MS: maybe 1/2 a protein muffin and/or a L&F yogurt. I'll probably get an iced latte with SF syrup at the coffee place.

L: chicken skewer with plain Greek yogurt as a dip, coleslaw made with Asian-style dressing

AS: probably whichever I don't have as my morning snack

D: 1/2 C rajma dal on a roti or 1/2 pita. Mango cheesecake (very small piece!!)

have a great Saturday!!

Melody - according to a report I read yesterday, from a fairly reliable source, vaccinated people are still very unlikely to end up hospitalized or dying. Of course, even a very small percentage is not zero percent, so I get that. They stated a bigger concern for me, though - and that is, they're thinking about 30% of unvaccinated people could stlll develop long COVID, even if they have only a mild case or are asymptomatic. That's way too much of a chance for my comfort. I'm masking everywhere I go...and hoping for the best.

Good morning from the lake. It's going to be a scorcher out here! We had so much fun last night with our friends and the baby. They are turning out to be such great parents. Very easy going. We let the baby sit in the dirt and just feel all the feels. She loved pushing it into piles and running her fingers and toes through it. Fun picture for Friday. I ate well, enjoyed my Old Fashioned and my one glass of wine around the campfire. The grand girls arrive in about three hours and we have biking to lunch and the new ice cream shop up first, then play time at the splash pad, park and finally the pool before dinner. Then roasting hot dogs for them and a campfire with S'more cones. We should all fall into bed exhausted.

QoTD: I'm going with Raylan Givens from Justified. Smart. Mostly kind. Doesn't like bad guys. Easy on the eyes.

menu is hope for. We'll see how I do.

B: jerky and crisps

L: maybe insides of a sandwich

D: pork loin with a cherry reduction sauce, a little pork stuffing, sliced tomatoes

S: a left a bite or two of everyone else's ice creams!

Peace Everyone!

Hello

Happy weekend. Not a whole lot planned this weekend. We are going to the Free Guy. It has good critic and audience reviews so I am hoping to enjoy it. Maybe to the lake tomorrow with my daughter. I am hoping the fire smoke clears up a little before then.

QOTD: boy that is a hard question for which I have no answer.

B: oikios triple zero Greek, cold brew coffee with sf vanilla syrup sf caramel sauce splash half n half

the rest of the day is up in the air since it is Saturday. This is my day of "freedom". However, in order not to create bad habits I don't allow myself to eat anything and everything. Still keeping track of what I eat keeping it around 1200.

Good morning Everyone,

It's been a long time since I posted, well over 2 years now. I was a regular poster for many years before that. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer. Today is my 6 year surgiversary and I wanted to post a follow up. I lost all the weight but have gained about 12 back from eating comfort foods over covid and severe depression. Anyhow, know this is a lifelong thing so I'm not going to beat myself up too much. Bottom line is that I felt so desperate to feel better that I have used foods to soothe myself. I'm still ill with depression but I think that caring for my nutrition has helped in the past and I should help again. Now that the gym is open I can get back to my weight lifting, hot yin yoga, and swimming, so I feel more hopeful. Beautiful weather doesn't hurt either ?.

qotd: I'd probably pick Kinsey Malone from the mystery series. I think she would kick ass and be firm but fair. She is my hero, also a big nerd over here ?

Anyhow, as I speak there is a slice of pizza in my fridge calling my name but I know I must start somewhere so into the compost it goes along with anything else I find in there. It's amazing how food sneaks into your life.

Today I'm going for a walk with some friends and then for a tea picnic with other friends at a historic site. Possibly a hot yin class tonight if I can get a reservation. It's a beautiful day so I'm going to try to enjoy it as much as possible.

b - sf protein iced coffee - instant coffee, ice, premier protein chocolate shake, cinnamon, sucralose, collagen peptides. I make a lot and sip all morning and throughout day. Love this!!!

snack - handful of walnuts or almonds with a little Lily's low sugar chocolate chips added

Lunch - sf pb and j in 2 slices of 1 carb bread, Coke Zero with ice, fresh lemon, and sf black cherry syrup

snack - tea - I get a tea box, not sure what's in it yet but plan is to only eat a bite of each thing not on my plan. Honestly, this probably won't work but I'm hoping the rest of my eating today will balance things out.

dinner - peppers from my garden with garlic feta spread. Lc cottage cheese pancake with sf syrup

snack: another pancake
