That is so sad. I am still praying for a miracle.

I'm hoping someone comes through for your horse. I've been thinking of you.

I don't normally participate in this thread mainly because my foods are basically the same almost everyday, but I do have to answer the QOTD: I am waiting for my Freeze dryer to come in so I can freeze dry a bunch of homegrown fruits and veggies. This was a big purchase that my husband and I went back and forth about getting as those suckers are over 2K. This will give us an opportunity to freeze dry literally everything we grow and harvest even the excess eggs we get.

So we are slowly getting to be more and more self-sufficient. We have 22 egg layers, 15 meat birds, 3 piglets, and a nice big 50 x 30 garden.

Sounds pretty awesome Grrrl !!!!

Growing even a small part of my own food - living ( mostly ) in my landscaped backyard or porch just ENJOYING nature early morning and late at nite feels for me SO healing .

I too wish I could take your horse but honestly I have my hands full with a trio of attention demanding Persian lapcats , container gardens everywhere and my elderly parents .

One day for sure - pet chickens , fresh free range eggs and who knows maybe even a goat!

They?re so ridiculously cute and love to eat poison ivy - the bane of my Long Island existence....
