What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
Mornin' All!
I have to take my mom to a dentist appt today, then she wants to hit a couple more thrift stores. I have my four-week follow-up with my plastic surgeon at 4:00. So...that's my day! I'm hoping my plastic surgeon will clear me to exercise. I'm having a really hard time sticking to my menu and keeping my calories within range. If I was doing my usual biking/Zumba/whatever, this wouldn't be too much of a problem, but as it is, it's a problem. I signed up for a four-week "back on track" class at my clinic for people at least 1.5 years out from surgery. It starts the first week of August. I'm hoping my insurance is going to cover it, but I haven't heard back from them yet. If it doesn't, unless this thing is outrageously expensive, it might be worth it anyway. I've also looked at OA, but I don't think I could deal with the spiritual part. I don't know. I feel like I need to do something before I'm dealing with a huge problem. I wish I had the resolve I had that first year out!!! (with the exercise, I think it's not only that I'm burning off some calories, but I'm also out of the house for 1-2 hours at a pop, so not near the fridge. So if I can't exercise, I have to somehow get myself out of the house every day - esp in the afternoons when I'm most vulnerable - ugh - why does managing weight have to be so hard????)
QOTD: never
B: yogurt pie with some kind of fruit compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: I think I might have a chicken skewer with tzatziki sauce on 1/2 a pita. I'm hoping this might hold me over for longer than usual...
AS: Protein. Maybe a protein muffin or an Aldi's cheese/egg pita (it's really half a pita - and not very big - but lots of protein & fat)
D: Madras lentils with a dollop of plain Greek yogurt
have a great day, everyone!
Hoping your follow-up appointment goes well and that he clears you for exercise. Don't be too hard on yourself,,,,, look how far you've come! Pause and realize that recovery after any surgery can mess with your body. I'm guessing that once you are fully healed and back to being able to bike or hit the gym that things will level out again.
Sending positive vibes your way
G'morning menuers!
LOL Love your expression next to your lettuce!
So excited. Don't know if I mentioned that DD is coming home for a week, arriving tonight. Haven't seen her since Jan and dying to hug her. I'll be in full cooking and baking mode. First dinner request is lasagna.
In other news, my husband decided to become my coach. Very big mistake. He thinks I can do better on my runs if I did HIIT. The mistake is that he is competitive and I'm not. My average speed on my regular runs is in the high 11 minutes mile. Admitted I'd like it to be in the 10 min range but I'm not killing myself. Well, he took me out there and had me running at my highest speed for 30 seconds and then walk for about 1:30 minutes. My speed was about 7:20. So he thinks now when I go back on my regular run I'll be running faster. Hahahaha! He is already planning our next HIIT and how we will be extending the 30 seconds to 45 seconds max speed. If you guys hear a woman in CA killed her husband on the running trail, just know I had a good excuse.
QOTD: nope. Too lazy to do that.
My meals yesterday
- B: fast
- L: chomp jalapeño beef stick + protein puffs (in the car, running errands)
- S: barebell white chocolate (very yum)
- D: Kung pao chicken
- E: 30 minutes cardio + 50 minutes weight training
Pic is from the Van Gogh exhibit. I liked my artsy jacket.
Happy fri-yay!

That would totally be justified! A jury of your peers would let you off with no sentence.
