What's on your Sunday menu?
on 7/18/21 1:52 am - Amarillo, TX
Good morning weekenders! Hope you're all doing well.
Not much planned for the day. We got a lot of rain last night. It had a lot of thunder which was nice! Hoping to get another walk in today but I'm worried about mosquitos. We've had so many and I've been bit many times.
My brother and his family got back from New Mexico last evening and they may come over today. I don't know why as we have the kids every day this coming week. I do miss the kids actually but yeah...5 days of them all day...LOL. My mom's birthday is the 25th so next Sunday. They'll be over again that day. I am making my mom sesame chicken and might make egg rolls...not sure. It'll depend on what she wants. Will make some rice and what not. She wants an caramel apple Bundt cake. I'll need to figure out something I can have as all they has eggs and/or gluten. Might do egg roll in a bowl in the instant pot. That'd be cheap and easy.
QOTD: what is something that is underrated or undervalued that you do not want to do without?
It could be two things for me. I am seriously OCD and deodorant to me is soooo important LOL. Also I would love it if we had a bath tub. Though I seriously doubt I could use it much with my back...it'd help my legs hurt less though! I do miss it though. If I came into some serious money I'd redo the shower into a combo.
B: JUST egg, cheese, chicken sausage and coffee before
L: PP shake
D: depending on my brother coming over lunch might be something else and a PP shake for dinner
S: one last bit of watermelon, cheese and ???
Mel
Mornin' All!
I'm supposed to go to an art fair today with a friend, but I walked around so much at the county fair last night that I'm a bit achy - so I don't know. We'll see how I feel in a couple of hours. The fair was fun. I have zero interest in the carnival/ride part of fairs anymore, but I love going through the animal barns. So...that's what we did.
QOTD: I guess this isn't terribly related, but I've often said a house without a two-car attached garage would be a deal breaker for me (even though I didn't think that back when we bought the house 20+ years ago - but we're in an older neighborhood, and our house is one of the few with a two-car garage. I'm SO happy we have it!). We've had two cars most of the time we've lived here, but even during the two or three years we were a one-car family, it was great having the extra garage space for storage.
B: plain skyr with strawberry/rhubarb compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: chickpea-miso spread on 35-calorie Aldi's bread with tomato and cucumber slices
AS: 1/2 protein muffin, L&F yogurt with raspberries
D: something with Halloumi cheese, since I have some open that I need to use soon. Maybe that with some kind of vegetable.
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning!! It's a warm and sticky day here. I did pretty well on my food picks yesterday and even though I still haven't officially gone grocery shopping, I picked up a few things so I can have options. I need to spend part of the day today making a real menu plan and grocery list. We also have to drive by several houses to check out the stucco styles and I am craving a trip to our best farmer's market. So we are doing that this morning for the first time in probably two years!
QoTD: I don't want to live without lip balm or lotion. I'm so dry, all the time . I have lip balm everywhere and slather it on all the time. Just found some new amazing nighttime lip mask. I love that stuff!
menu:
B: egg and cheese
L: we are having lunch out , and the plan is some freshly made chicarones , one street taco and a glass of red wine
D: I bought fresh salmon for the first time ever. I've only eaten it before maybe two times, so we'll see how this goes. Doing charred and blistered tomatoes and broccolini with it.
Peace Everyone!

No bathtub would be a deal breaker for me. I currently do not have a Jacuzzi and miss that. I think a tub soak does so much for sore body parts. I have looked into the walk-in tubs, but they are really just a glorified foot bath. I want a tub where I can sink in and cover my shoulders. I also want to be able to get out without waiting for the water to drain and the door unlock. I like to take a long, hot soak, and then finish with a hot shower.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
one of those Japanese-style bath tubs would be great - they're square and very deep, so the water does come up to your shoulders. We just have a wimpy semi-modern basic one that isn't very deep. I rarely take tub baths, but I probably would (esp in the winter) if we had one of those Japanese style soaking tubs.
Much as I love the fair, ours seems to be cursed. It always ends up raining everyday during the Ohio Trumbull County fair which happened this week. I can not remember a year when it did not get rained out and wonder why the board does not try a different date.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I don't know that ours has ever flooded out (that would be awful!), but they usually seem to schedule it on the hottest, most humid week of the entire summer. There have been a couple of years that the weather has been decent (including this year), so those are the only years we've gone. I can't imagine being there in 100 degree weather - UGH!!!
