Yes do both! The dam is way cooler than you think it will be. And the Grand Canyon does not disappoint, either!

We did a bus trip from Vegas to the Grand Canyon.. would highly highly recommend! Best money I spent while I was in Vegas. I never wanted to leave..
our trip took us for a photo op at the dam But we didn't do a tour or anything.

Learning my new normal, one day at a time.
Mornin' All!
I have one of my film discussion groups today at noon. We're discussing "Out of Africa", but I didn'****ch it because I saw it when it came out 35 years ago, and I wasn't crazy about it. WAY too long and really slow-moving. I didn't really want to waste another three hours of my life watching it again, so I just read the synopsis. Good thing I did because I'd forgotten about 80% of the story. I don't know why some members of the group pick films like this - i.e., older Hollywood block busters that most/all of us have already seen. I much prefer to watch offbeat films - or at least ones I've never seen before. I guess they don't know where/how to look for films to recommend so they just pick something they've already seen (and liked). I lead a documentary film group (just started up last month), and I've been sure to give the other members good resources for finding films to recommend so we don't have to deal with this issue. Part of me wants to start yet another group called "Offbeat Films" so we DEFINITELY won't have to deal with it. OK - enough complaining for one day. At least this group today rarely discusses films for more than like five or ten minutes and then goes back to socializing and eating lunch. No one will be able to tell I didn'****ch the film (or at least haven'****ched it within the last 35 years...)
QOTD: there are so many places that come to mind - although the beneficiaries of our estate (since we don't have kids) are our local NPR affiliate, the veterinary school at our local university, and this foundation the city has set up that distributes money to whatever 501(c)3's you name (and we named several - tried to pick some that had very different goals, like environmental groups, historic preservation groups, kids' groups, etc). So I'll just funnel those millions (i.e., the QOTD phantom millions since we don't have millions of our own, unfortunately!) into the same groups we've already picked.
B: I have pumpkin yogurt with 2 T light Cool Whip on the menu I made last night, but I might switch to my usual plain Greek yogurt with fruit. Coffee with half & half
MS: it'll be a long time 'til lunch (our film meeting starts at 12:30, so that means lunch probably won't arrive until 1:00), so a beefed-up protein shake. I'll probably add strawberries and kale - and try to have it as late as possible.
L: I'm thinking two of the appetizers (at the restaurant) - Caesar salad and "Moroccan crab cakes"
AS: baby carrots and hummus
D: I'm going to make another Indian dal this afternoon - this one with red lentils - but a friend who'll be out of town this weekend suggested I ask her husband if he'd like me to accompany him to a neighborhood BBQ tonight, since he was interested in going but she doubts he'll go by himself. SO...I'm not sure what I'll be having for dinner! Either dal or BBQ...
this kitty showed up at our porch door last night. He was super cute and one of the friendliest cats I've ever met. I posted a message on Nextdoor and also posted this picture on FB. With the help of a FB friend, we managed to track his human down in about twenty minutes! (he lives a block away - and his owner said he's an escape artist!)
Good Morning! Happy Fri-Yay! We had an earthquake yesterday afternoon, i think it centered a few hours away but it was definitely felt. My office is on the 2nd floor and our monitors were moving pretty decently for a good 5-7 seconds. As far as I know, no major damage or injuries anywhere.
We don't have much planned for the weekend. I might work a bit and it's supposed to be 115 Sunday so we will stay inside as much as possible.
QOTD: I would do something to help with the homeless communities.

Good Morning JB and Menuers,
I have the day off again today but I thought I'd jump on an say Hi so no one was worrying about me Like I am worried about Madison Rose. I hope all is well with her.
The weight gain has been real for people who never struggled before. The eating out is what breaks my diet so The pandemic was a God send for me. I was able to stick way more closely to the plan. But I did see a guy in the gym a couple months back that I only recognized him by his Tattoo and I was very shocked.
QOTD: The church we attend has a very good school. Many of the kids go on to have very successful carriers, We just had a past student come back and donate over a million dollars to update all the tech in the school. Every room has white boards now and everything is up to date. That was very impressive to me and I would like to do that for my Alma Mater.
Accountability: Not bad but I knew I was going out to dinner last night so I was very careful of what I ate before I got there.
Accountability: Not great but getting better. The Keto crackers and Keto cookies have me stumbling. I have Bible study tonight so I will not have time for snacks.

Did you use your day off to watch old Price is Right episodes???
G'morning all!
Today I'm taking Luna back to the vet to see if we get the drainage tubes out. She seems to be doing OK and is moving around. Not happy with not going to the park but we need to keep her movements to the minimum. She seems to be enjoying her thrice a day warm compresses. As soon as she sees me with the little tub she goes to her corner and lays down looking up at me like "yes my slave, proceed with pampering me!"
QOTD: teen mental health and drug prevention. A program that goes into schools to help at risk students and not wait for the problems to occur and parents scrambling to get help. The counselors at the schools are useless
My meals yesterday
- B: fast
- L: Costco egg bites + cauliflower thins
- S: Fage yogurt + blueberries
- D: ground Turkey stew (with veggies & diced tomatoes) on cauliflower rice
- E: 30 minutes cardio + 50 minutes weight training
Pics are of Luna in her bed and when we borrowed an old shirt from DD to cover the shaved part of her body. We have ordered her doggy T-shirts but I thought this one with DD's was cuter.
Happy Fri-yay!
