Skin tightening surgery with BBL
Greetings,
I'm 47 years old and I'm 11 year out from surgery. The older I get, I see the changes in my body. My skin is drooping and my hips are gone. My skin is extremely saggy. It's becoming even worse with exercise. I went from a size 30 to a 6. I'm very depressed and I've increased my blood pressure with my stress. The way my loose skin keeps hanging, it's causing my back and knees to hurt. I really need a lower body lift. I don't have the funds to do it. Does anyone know any kind of way that I could get help. Or knows any low cost doctors? I'm really in need. I can't even look in the mirror without crying. Please help me.
You are looking at $8,000 to $10,000. Big city surgeons are usually more costly than those in lower income areas. You might be able to get financing through a home equity loan, borrow the money from your retirement plan, use a medical credit card, or borrow from a friend or relative.
It is a shame that this is not covered by insurance. There was a line in a book that I read years ago, "weight loss surgery gave me back my health and plastic surgery gave me back my self-esteem".

actually, I'd double that estimate. It's probably about what you said for a tummy tuck, but for a whole LBL, it's usually quite a bit more since they do front and back...plus the mons lift. Although she may be able to get it for that in Mexico or in some areas of the US. I've heard the Miami area tends to have lower prices than many parts of the US - and there may be less-populated areas that do, too...
It has been a long time since my tummy tuck. I paid cash, but would have gone into debt for it if I had not had the money to pay cash. To me, it was as important as a car that you trade in after a few years. Your body is something that you live with for the rest of your life. I believe that plastic surgery is a great investment in future happiness. It was to me.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat, too!!
I was told by a few people (I think here on OH) back when I was doing consults about four years ago to expect about $8K-$10K per procedure, with the LBL counting as two procedures since they do both front and back. I did one email consult in Mexico, which was a great price - and the others in the Chicago area, which I realize is probably more expensive than some other areas. My consult estimates (from Chicago-area surgeons) ranged from $16K - $23K for the LBL, so what people were telling me here rang true. Granted, those were Chicago prices, but it was also four years ago, so...
I just had a facelift done for $7K here in Madison. I thought that was very reasonable given what I paid for my body contouring (I also had a breast lift and arm lift in a second surgery in Chicago). But I wanted someone who specialized in body contouring for massive weight loss patients back when I did the body stuff, and there's no one in this area who specializes in that - had to go to Chicago for that (although there are such specialists in other parts of the country, too...). With the facelift, I wanted someone who specialized in facial plastic surgery - and we do have people in this area who specialize in that.
The surgeon who did my tummy tuck was really an artist. He charged me $5000 in Youngstown, Ohio. When he worked in Boston, he charged $16,000 for his tummy tuck. He was living in Pittsburgh and did some work in the Youngstown area that year. He told me that the cost was so low because it was Youngstown. I had very little swelling and no restrictions after three weeks. I am still very happy with the work that he did in 2008.

The cost of living in Boston was outrageous. One company I worked found that they could get away with paying people who lived there lower wages because so many people wanted to live there. Wages were calculated using the area's cost of living, but then adjusted for how desirable the location was. My surgeon was getting $7,000 in Pittsburgh in 2008. He explained all of the different areas and how he charged according to where he did his surgeries.
