I think it is because then the world would be full of people that were hundreds of years old and there would not be room for new people to be born. If people could live forever, what would their quality of life be? But it does suck to lose people. I am sorry for your loss.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Mornin' All!
I had my drains and dressings removed yesterday. SO MUCH BETTER! I could actually sleep last night without all that crap on my head. The surgeon is very pleased with the results so far. He said my skin still has quite a bit of elasticity given my age and the 200+ lb weight loss. He thinks my face will look great after all this swelling goes down. Right now it's got that "windswept" look and there's still quite a bit of swelling and bruising, but it should look better and better as time goes on. I go back on Thursday to have the sutures and staples removed. It'll be great having things gradually get back to normal. One thing I'll miss, though, is this metabolism boost that I totally forgot you get from plastic surgery (or probably any surgery...). Despite a couple of truly awful eating days, my weight is lower than it's been in months. Too bad I didn't take more advantage of this!!! I think that boost only lasts a couple of weeks - hopefully I can rein my eating back in the next few days so my weight will drop more. I am totally NOT trying to lose weight (not a good thing to do when your body is trying to heal from surgery), but if I can manage eat normally and not blow it anymore, my weight should drop a little more...
you guys - I think I am going to go to the UK next summer. I have a 3rd cousin who lives in London whom I "met" a couple of years ago through DNA testing. Our great grandmothers were sisters. We've wanted to meet in person for a long time. Another distant cousin of ours (I think fifth cousin - but I can't remember) who lives in Scotland invited us to a family reunion that's taking place next July. Laurie's going to go for sure - but I think I'm going to go, too!! This is so exciting!!
QOTD: oh yes - we had lemonade (and KoolAid) stands all the time in the summer!
Here's the menu. No exercise today since I'm not allowed to do that yet (other than walking - but it's raining again today, so no go...):
So very cool the trip to UK and finding distant cousins through DNA!
