Memogram

If this is the first mammogram you've ever had it's very common (1 in 9) to get called back for further imaging because until proven otherwise, everything is suspicious. You can get called back for further imaging for many reasons, one breast may look different then the other, could be a compression issue (tech didn't apply enough compression), could be an area they want a better look at, calcium deposits, benign cysts.. I always tell my patients not to worry until there's something to worry about - and a call back for further imaging is not uncommon and not the time for panic.
If you've had a mammogram pre op, and now you're having a second mammogram - your breast composition is way different then it was pre op and it would automatically be grounds for a call back. Any unexplained changes to the breast tissue is 'worrisome' from an imaging perspective, Did you tell the technologist that you had massive weight loss since your last mammogram?? That's one piece of information that is helpful when having a mammogram - the technologist won't always ask (especially if they don't have access to your previous imaging to compare at that moment) ..
Either way - don't pani****il you there is something to panic about. Go to the apt, and see what they say!

If this is your first mammo since WLS, it's pretty common. They need to get a new baseline given you probably lost significant mass in breasts. They may be able to see things they couldn't before so may want to do more monitoring. I wouldn't worry until they tell you something to worry about (my philosophy on all things medical).

I concur with the previous postings. The first mammogram I was called back for was 20 years ago, and I did panic. I went through more imaging and then a needle biopsy. In the end, I was fine. They are more sophisticated today and they no longer do a needle biopsy for the area of concern of the type I had. Stay calm until they actually tell you something that you need to be concerned about. I've been called back two more times for other mammograms and it was always fine. I have a lot of areas of calcification and nothing more. But they always need to make sure. I suspect the change in breast tissue due to your weight loss (congratulations, BTW) is the cause for the all back.
