Just looking for some advice
Hi, I am 2 and a half months post op and I'm having trouble eating properly. It seems my brain has not caught up to my stomach yet. I still crave all the stuff from before. I do eat some stuff but no where close to what I use to. I have been losing weight according to others but I still don't see it. I am drinking juice and water. I am eating pasta, cheese, chicken lots of chicken, and potatoes. I do not know how to properly combat cravings. My main question is Has anyone had this issue ? If you have how have you curbed your cravings ? My follow up question is What are or were you eating 2.5 months post op ? I'm on regular foods and I'm looking for suggestions.

You are in your honeymoon phase so no matter what you do or don't, you'll lose weight. Don't know how much you have lost or need to lose but in my case I didn't see much of a difference until I had lost 50 lbs.
At the stage you are you should not be eating pasta or drink juice. Concentrate on dense protein and nothing else. The cravings will always be there, they operate on our stomach and not on our brain, so you need to retrain your mind not to listen to them. We have been given a second chance, it's almost like a reset, don't waste it by doing what you were doing before surgery. Recreate yourself.
Follow the program your center has given you diligently and don't veer off.

dense protein: meat, chicken, fish, eggs.
sliders: yogurt, refried beans. They are still protein and good for you but as the name indicates they don't stay in your stomach long.

Sheila is spot on! The only thing I will add is this is a great time to do the work to learn about head hunger and how to combat it ans make the mental changes you need.
my program required me to read the mindful eating book by Jan chozen bays, it's a little on the woo-woo side but good stuff too. It might be a useful supplement to your programs coaching/counseling as well!

Your brain will never catch up with your stomach. Head hunger will never go away. What you need at this stage of your weight loss journey is water and protein. Eating carbs is what causes cravings for more carbs. So the secret is no bread, no pasta, no potatoes, no rice, no cereal, no noodles, nothing with sugar or flour. You can eat all the eggs, chicken, cheese, fish, beef, ham, pork, sausage, and fish that you want. But you really should not want more than 2 or 3 ounces for a meal.
To be successful at this, get yourself a good scale. Don't try to save money on that purchase. A good smart scale will cost about $150. It will measure your weight, body fat, bone density, rat content, and water weight. It will transmit that information to an app on your phone and computer. You will know exactly what is going on with your body. Don't depend on others to tell you.
My Fitness Pal is free and a fantastic tool. Buy a digital food scale and weigh and measure everything that you eat. Don't estimate. When you weigh and track your food, you will gain control. The World According to Eggface has many recipes and food ideas. A favorite for most of us early out is her Ricotta Bake.
This new way of eating will get you to your goal and below. It will help you to stay slim and healthy as long as you stick with it.
