Right? MFP makes me question whether most Americans can read. Like how are there 100 completely different entries for the same item? My advice is to scan your own items as much as possible for accuracy then just use your own entires. I just take my phone to the fridge and scan 20 things at once into the same lunch, then go back to my computer browser to save an organize the items.

Also, there is a way to customize your macros! Go to food, then the tab for settings. You can choose which macros to track.

Also, the way to get around the wrong serving size is to change the quantity of the serving. You could choose .25 of a Tbsp or whatever gets you closest to the right number.

oh yea - I figured out the quantity changing thing right away. It's just that the calories listed for this same item are so wildly divergent that I didn't know which one to use, and I was too lazy to go out to the kitchen, open the fridge, and check! It just wasn't worth the effort for something that's probably 10 calories max (i.e., the squirt I'm going to add to my veggie burger). Good idea about scanning frequently used items, though - should cut way down on the number of times I run into this issue!!

You can pick the Tablespoon size and then change the number of servings to a fraction. Here is a screen shot to show you.

yes - I knew about that part, and have done it. What I was trying to explain is that people have entered items into the database with vastly different calorie counts. For example, one person might enter it in saying a tablespoon has 100 calories, and another person entered the exact same food into the database saying a tablespoon has 27 calories. Which means I have to look it up on the internet or go out to the kitchen to read the label. I know it sounds petty, but I'm finding it aggravating. I know sometimes companies reformulate their products and occasionally that's what explains the difference, but with some of these, I think it's just that people don't freaking read!! Or they make mistakes and then don't bother to fix them. AARRGGH!

P.S. in this case, I just left the item off. I probably have 1/10 of a tablespoon of this chili sauce, so in this scenario, that means 2.7 kcal vs 10 kcal, depending on which entry for this item you pick. I don't give a hoot about seven calories, and in fact, I just threw up my hands and left it completely off, because I don't even care about ten calories. But I've seen some items in there where one person said a cup has 200 calories, and another person 300 calories, and another person 350 calories, for the exact same item and measurement. Big difference. It's not like it's a huge imposition for me to get off my duff and go down to the kitchen and check the label, but I feel like I shouldn't have to do this three or four times (or more..) every day. It's a waste of time. But whatever. I think I'll do what Julia does and just scan the items that I use frequently so I don't have to deal with this so much.

Anything that is crowdsourced is going to have variation. Everything is as accurate as Wikipedia, lol.

Good morning, everybody!

We have a bit of a busy morning with plumbers coming and people stopping by to borrow things, so I need to be quick.

I am headed to Boston tomorrow to see my family for the first time since pre-COVID. It's kind of a quick trip, leaving Thursday and returning Sunday. We are a family of short visitors.

When I was first married, I had to get used the fact that not everybody is a short visitor. I remember being dumbfounded at the length of some of the in-law visits.

Unfortunately, I don't think that I will be able to visit with JB. Maybe next year when we have a more traditional family trip.

QOTD: No, I am more of the wait until it becomes life threatening variety.

Breakfast: omlette

Lunch:Hello Fresh

Dinner: TBD

Have a great day all!
